There are at least 2 Nevada's...

Much of the state's geography is rural and conservative.  The population of that part (approaching 90% of the land) is about 25-30% of the bunch.

Clark County (where all us evil-doers live) is made up of bunches of union employees, in either the casino, government or construction industry.  They tend to follow their leader in a sheep-like fashion.  Some of us Clark County residents don't work in the union controlled aspects of things, but we are few and far between.

Additionally, Sir Harry has been in politics since the mob days, and is also a Mormon.  Nevada's Mormon population rivals that of Utah in numbers, and they are a formidable voting block.

So, long story short...Harry Reid is a dipshit, and we all know that, but he'll be around for you guys to complain about for years to come.

The worst of it is that he doesn't even wield his power to benefit Nevada.  At least he could be a good crook, and bring home our spoils...jeez.

(I posted this on the sports board, but thought since this issue is a big political issue in many states that it might be ok to post the same post here. If it needs to be removed then so be it and I apologize for improper posting.)

If you live in a state where the sport of horse racing has or is begging for slot machines to keep racing viable then this is something to consider.

A race at Penn National race course in Pennsylvania has a "tote malfunction" and people who had winning tickets are not rewarded with their winnings. This is the kind of garbage that has lead people to quit betting on the sport. I had always been an above average bettor and really enjoyed the sport but I quit 6 months ago.

The combination of the surly apathetic tellers at the betting windows, the high takeout on wagers, the drug problem in the sport, and other assorted BS like that posted above makes me wonder why anyone tolerates it.

This sport is like none other. It has a fanbase, a customer base, that actually takes it, they take the bad customer service as "part of the game" and continue to support it. But as many of these people die off, the sport languishes in obscurity as its poor business practices drive people away.

It's a shame because it's a great sport minus the people who run the sport, the track owners, etc.

Something to think about the next time your state officals try to convince you that gaming should be legalized in your state. I am not against gaming, I just don't think it is proper to bailout these track owners with slots at the tracks when they are the cause of their business being in the gutter.

And should be done only in Nevada.  Please bring plenty of money when you come.

And now we return you to the Nevada Chamber of Commerce regularly scheduled programming.

That he may have a difficult time getting re-elected. Is Reid viewed with the same disdain in Nevada.

First, I have no idea how anyone can live in Vegas w/out taking part in the all the vices on a daily basis. I like the idea that there is only one Las Vegas. I know the 280 mile distance from SoCal keeps me somewhat under control.

I heard it was down to about 50%, I heard this a few days ago, not for sure if its accurate.

You gamble when you get married and hope against hope that she doesn't take you to the cleaners later in life or worse yet, turn into a old big fat lazy slob.  You gamble when you have kids and hope that they become productive citizens and don't turn out to be miserable lazy nasty sponges who simply leech off you.  You gamble at your work that the project you are working on will be put into production and not shit-canned with your sorry-ass laid off.

Life is nothing more than one big fucking gamble, Dude!
