Obama wants to close Gitmo and release the detainees who have not been charged with a crime since it is unconstitutional to detain someone indefinitely without charging them with a crime. Bush contends the detainees are dangerous prisoners of war and our law does not require their release until the "war" is over. That is why Bush had them detained outside of the United States because they were beyond habeas corpus. So if Obama is going to release detainees because they have not been charged, how is the United Nations going to detain our children? What authority are they going to use to take all these people into custody?
Maybe when people have their kids taken away they will realize that they need to act against the tyrannical people in power in order to regain any semblance of freedom and liberty. And that action will be more than just complaining and it will be more than just voting.
Anything that stands to provoke the silent majority into getting off their asses and doing something is a good thing in my book.

The League of Nations and the UN are and were two distinct entities.
The LON voluntarily disbanded in 1948, so there was and interesting period of appx three years when the world was blessed with two universal organizations designed to,among other things, ensure world peace and security and ensalve the American population.I wonder if the two organizations had a liason?
And no, the LON did not put either Hitler or Stalin in power.The USSR was expelled or never joined, and Germany was expelled sometime after Hitler and the Nazis consolidated power in Germany.
The US never joined the LON, as the US Senate refuse to advise and consent to the treaty necessary for the US to sign the Covenant of the League of Nations.So much for contral of the Us by supranationalorganizations?
