I thought  Hannity  did believe WMD were found :)

Read an article about 550 metric tonnes of yellow cake uranium that was discovered near Baghdad, and kept under wraps for several years, until it was moved to Canada. Google: Associated Press yellow cake uranium, if you care to read it. The story never got much publicity in the MSM, but Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame sure did.

The story was immediately debunked.  The AP is a right wing mouthpiece, which is why outles left and right are cancelling their renewal contracts.  In three years, like the UPI, it will be dead.

If the story was debunked, as you say, did the AP print a retraction? Who debunked it, and where can I find that source to read it?

Regardless of the yellowcake, it must be remembered exactly what Wilson "found."  Wilson's report admitted there was a meeting between then-Nigerien Prime Minister and an Iraqi delegation, but the PM owould not discuss Iraq meant by  "expanding commercial relations." According to Wilson this was because the PM said did not want to discuss issues relating to trade with a country under UN, so he steered the converstaion to other areas.

Thus, Wilson couldn't find evidence of this. But it raises several questions.

First, given the fact that the main export of Niger is yellowcake, why was Iraq seeking to expand trade by sending a secret mission.

Second, Niger's other main exports are livestock products cotton, millet, and onions.  If Iraq was seeking to buy these products, why was the PM afraid to discuss what the delegation was seeking to purchase by "expanding trade."

Remember again, Wilson didn't say Irag was seeking to purchase.  He just said he couldn't find the evidence.  However, given these facts, what is the logical inference that can be drawn from the trade delegation?  What product do you think they were seeking that made the PM afraid to discuss it because of sanctions.  Hint - buying oninons was not a violation of UN sanctions.

Also the intelligence arm of the UK still say Sadamam was looking for yellow cake in Niger.

There were no WMD found, despite what Hannity believes

I missed to No in my post.  LOL

They found mobile chemical labs and serin gas. True the gas was degraded, but you don't know that until you inspect, and the refusal to allow inspections was a legitmate reason for war, as a violation of the cease fire.

Another  legitmate reason for war was Saddam firing on our jets in the no fly zone.

Well, per the CBS news link from last year, the yellowcake found and sold to Canada all predated the first Gulf War in 1991.Obiously no post-1991 Niger yellowcake was moved. No doubt it's still artfully hidden,

Hint: find the bill of sale, see if it's FOB Baghdad or FOB Niamey.

"Israeli warplanes bombed a reactor project at the site in 1981. Later, U.N. inspectors documented and safeguarded the yellowcake, which had been stored in aging drums and containers since before the 1991 Gulf War. There was no evidence of any yellowcake dating from after 1991, the official said."

So, if the Iraq nuclear program had been destroyed in 1981, and never rebuilt to the level of 1981, why the Iraqi need for yellowcake?

Why the sudden concern about yellowcake the whereabouts of which were known since 1991 and from that time under UN safeguard?  Yellow herring, perhaps?

So, if yellowcake is not potent enough to fabricate a "dirty bomb" and far removed from weapons grade nuclear fuel, and if no Iraqi enrichment facilities were in existence or in operation, where and what was the real meaning of this cache of yellowcake which may or may not have been sold by Niger to Iraq?

So,is the reluctance of the PM of Niger to discuss various Iraqi overtures anything more than a refusal to stick his foott into his mouth in a situation he clearly realizes he cannot win?

"And, in a symbolic way, the mission linked the current attempts to stabilize Iraq with some of the high-profile claims about Saddam's weapons capabilities in the buildup to the 2003 invasion."

Please note the use of the word symbolic. Finally, we understand -- the 2nd Iraq war was fought to give a Canadian concern the opportunity to buy aging, improperly stored yellowcake at firesale prices. And perhaps to avoid a Love Canal situation in Iraq.Excellent causi belli, both ofthem.

So, Wilson no longer wins by a KO, but still wins the bout on points.
