I was channel surfing last night and came upone Jimmy Kimmel.

He mentioned the above and then showed a clip for a Barbara
Walters special where five couples "compete" for the baby of
a pregnant women.

I, of course, thought it was a joke.  Seems too crazy, and also
thought Barbara Walters wouldn't stoop that low.

I pick up the NY Times today and lo and behold - it's a real
show!!!  It airs on Friday.

gotta admit , that sucks, can you imagine what the kid will go through, OH here the kid that was a game show prise.

Can Russin roulett be far behind ?

There's already been a form of Russian roulette on British TV, although it was carried out by an illusionist called Derren Brown.  The programme generated a lot of publicity and controversy.  Link attached.

Sorry, the link didn't seem to work.  FWIW, for anyone interested, here's another account:

TV Russian roulette stunt blastedOctober 6, 2003

A British magician apparently "played" a deadly game of Russian roulette with a loaded pistol on a television show today despite criticism the stunt could lead to copycats.

The show by self-styled "psychological illusionist" Derren Brown was broadcast on Channel Four television, which said there would be a slight tape delay so transmission could be quickly ended if he blew his head off.

Brown carried out his stunt in an unnamed foreign country, since handguns are illegal in Britain.

A volunteer, picked by Brown from 12,000 hopefuls, put a bullet in one of the gun's six chambers. Brown then said he was reading the volunteer's mind to determine where the bullet was before putting the gun to his head.

Twice Brown put the revolver to his head and squeezed the trigger. On the third shot the illusionist pointed the gun away and fired. The chamber was empty.

After several minutes of silent contemplation Brown fired at his head and then quickly fired the live round into a wall of sandbags.

British police had earlier labelled the stunt "deplorable" and called for the show to be stopped, saying there were fears someone might copy it.

Britain has been shocked by a spate of gun attacks in the past week, including the fatal shooting of a jeweller in a family-run shop, the daylight machine-gunning of a man on a street and the shooting of three other men the following day.

Channel Four and Brown denied the Russian roulette stunt was irresponsible. The illusionist said it was designed to show the dangers of guns.

I would rather hear about people wanting to adopt a child and potentially positively affect a child's life (in spite of the potential negative notareity for the child, which could easily fade away long before he/she grew to an age to understand it) than hear William Hung sing ANY DAY...or to think about Puck (and I am not talking about the TER Puck...I am talking about the "Real World" character, for those of you who are new to "reality TV").

Of course, I was shown a whole new dimension in "Reality TV" appreciation about a month ago by a good friend who helped me to realize that the only way to view these shows is the B-Real way ("I want to get highhhh, soooo highhhh"...Cypress Hill for you whities out there).

Mean green?

Don't it seem when you ain't got no weed -

it right about the time you really in need?

Hat's off to the Loc'ster

I pretty much watch Brit Mysteries and Chapelle's show- er and Laker B-ball (those fuckers can't they even try?)

("I want to get highhhh, soooo highhhh"...Cypress Hill for you whities out there).

Whities huh??? When did that become an appropriate term?? Can we start referring to the negroes as Blackies?, As Asians as Slanties?

You hating asshole....

You post what you do below and call ME hating? (Update: that post has since been deleted by TER staff)

I made my statement based on 1) providers that I have knows have told me that most of their clients aren't stoners and 2) most of the people I have known in my life who have listened to Cypress Hill are either Chicano or Black.  As such, I said that because I figured many people on here wouldn't know the song I quoted from, and the good majority of TER members are caucasian.  I am a total whitey, so that term could have been directed at me as well as anyone, but I thought that people on here would be aware enough to see it in context.

Counseling is a wonderful thing for people with aggression, ya know?  As B-Real would say, "Ya got to chill!"

"Insane in the membrane...boy's insane, got no brain."

What I posted below was truthful, wouldn't you agree? Jews do produce the shit on TV. They do run hollywood and they do decide what we should watch.

I just pointed it out. Thats not hating. Just highlighting who is responsible for the programming that was disturbing enough to warrant a post about such a bad topic for a TV show.

As a whitey as you claim to be, you should know that we shouldn't refer to anyone with such mean spirited words. Why would you think it was ok to describe us a "whities" instead of just "whites"?

Again, all hell would break lose if I refered to LL Cool J, or lil' Kim as "blackies".

Treat the white man and women with the respect we deserve.

Sorry...I don't buy it.  Like the "guns don't kill people" line, words don't create hatred or anger...people do.

Just because I used the word "whities" (which, as the PC book goes, I have the right to do, as I am white...but I don't play by that books' rules, anyway) does not mean I am slamming white people.  Read between the lines.  I have been told "You my nigga" by a couple of black friends I have, and I have taken that as the HIGHEST compliment, because the word didn't convey their feelings...the context did.

As for the respect white men and women deserve, we have taken more advantage of other races than any race on this planet, and that is documented...much more so than your inference about Jewish influence in television.  As such, to me, that is backwards logic...and as far as television goes, it is mostly stupid to me, whoever is responsible, and how the hell would I or you really know that, unless you have spent 20 years in that business, so no, I wouldn't agree that your post is truthful, because I don't know, and I question whether you really do or not.  Maybe I should have asked my Jewish friend that I went out with last night.

Too many people on here know that I am about love power, and I will let my reputation stand for me.  However, in my eyes, your last post only confirmed my initial impression.  I am sure we aren't going to agree here, so I hope you can just let it drop before GND gets tired of it.

"Sowing the seeds of love...anything is possible...sowing the seeds of love..."

Can you believe William Hung? Or was it Hong? The dumb MF actually got a contract! Sometimes pop culture makes me sick! Marshal McCluhan and Andy Warhol weren't even half right!

Unbelievable--not only to equate the life of a child with a "prize", but to give the child to the couple who has the best cutesy or slick TV charm?

Let's see....next we'll have a reality show with 5 unwed teenage girls competing for a chance for a free abortion at the clinic.  :(

So............

the bottom line is...yes, they are a prize.  I see no problem with that unless it was about the competition and geez, isn't that one of the lessons?  Competition can be considered life threatening by some...depends on the walk of life.

The adoption thing.  I would love to have been adopted over feeling that I was an unwanted pregancy, well, actually I would be both, lol.   So doesn't that bring in some issues of needing to be rescued?

Bottom line, the adopted is a REAL prize.  Speaks of transformation.  When one is adopted YOU KNOW they wanted you.

The problem arises when one doesn't understand the impulses he/she feels that are not congruent with his adopted family.   Another post.

Sinking to a new low by making a reality show out of something so personal and to have a respected Journalist in on it.  An all time low for ABC.

not realty shows, but the world we live in.
