BIG TIME SCAM

I received an email from an individual with the screen name [email protected] and he invited me to come and spend 6 hours with him in Miami.  He said he just wanted me to be with him to attend a function and the individual that was putting all this together was paying for everything.  Next thing I know I get a cashier's check in the mail for 4500 and a message from him to deduct my donation and airfare and send the rest of the money to his broker in Belgium.  Well I am an ex banker and something just didn't feel right.  He kept pushing for me to send the cash because he was in Canada and needed to make his flight arrangements, etc and needed that money to do that.  I told him since the check came in late Friday and my bank was already closed, there was nothing I could do until Monday.  I called the bank that the cashier's check was drawn on, which was Wells Fargo Bank and they told me there was no such account number and they had nobody in their computer with the name that was on the check and computer signed.  I sent him a message and told him that I was on to his scam and that he was trying to get money out of me and the check was no good and that I would report this to the authorities somehow.  I never heard from him again.  So please be careful and don't think just because it's a cashier's check it's a good check.  Call and verify the account and the funds availability before you accept and deposit the check.  Hope nobody else has been taken by this party.  PLEASE BE CAREFUL!!!
