This year I am supporting two amazing causes. Toys for tots & Baskets of Hope. In exchange for your generosity & compassion for families in need this holiday season I am offering $75 off ANY appointment when you bring along a contribution.

Most of you are already familiar with Toys for tots & the amazing job they do every year supplying families with that special gift under the tree to brighten a child's Christmas morning. But what makes the holidays complete is the unity that special meal brings to families across the globe.

A celebratory holiday meal can provide a sense of normalcy, even in the worst of times. The Baskets of Hope program allows families facing hunger the opportunity to gather around the table and enjoy a holiday as a family, with a full meal including a turkey plus all the fixings for a family of 8.

Each year their goal is to provide 5,000 families with holiday meals. Both at Thanksgiving & Christmas. That’s approximately 35,000 members of hungry families. The cost of a single holiday meal is $25 to cover food, warehousing, packaging, and distribution.

Suggestions:

Unwrapped toys, books, Cds, DVDs, electronics for ages 0-18
Clothing. Especially winter attire to keep our kiddies warm at the bus stop.
Turkeys, hams
Frozen veggies, desserts & breads
Canned veggies, potatoes, yams, gravy (no glass containers please)
Dried potatoes, stuffing, rice, eggs, milk
Flour, sugar, brn sugar
Gift cards for any store including grocery stores

Together we can brighten up the holidays for a family less fortunate.

Thank you in advance for your generosity & support!

There were many Mary's in the bible because it was a common name so there is a natural confusion. The fact that she is refered to as Mary Magdalene or Mary of Magdala indicates that she was someone of great importance. Luke states that Jesus travel with 12 and Mary Magdalene who Jesus cast out some demons and there is no specific reference to her being a prostitute. Jesus saved many women that sometimes people think is Mary Magdalene but from a logical stand point it doesn't really fit. I mean he saves her from demons, she dedicates herself to the cause, travels with them and then becomes a prostitute in another town to be saved again? Anyway there is also a passage where Peter is complaining that Jesus is treating her like and equal and Jesus states that he will make her like a man and it is my belief that he was talking about her status not physically. This in general fits with his over all life theme of the poor, the meek, the down and out people of the world like women should be treated well just like a person of high social status.

Lol, ok, that's a much more eloquent reply than my earlier one. Same answer, better spoken, kcmn. :)

Hey Leanne,
The answer is false. That was a loftier tale added to the bible in more current times. The original book had no mention of prostitution for Mary Magdalene. :

Hardyhar, according to the time stamp you are the winner considering the conclusion Mary was a prostitute is based not on actual eyewitness accounts the charge is merely hearsay, aka: that evil troll called GOSSIP.
Hope you'll be satisfying my long standing curiosity soon luv.

The four Gospels are not eyewitness accounts. They were written 35 to 65 years after Jesus’ death, a jelling of separate oral traditions that had taken form in dispersed Christian communities. Jesus died in about the year a.d. 30. The Gospels of Mark, Matthew and Luke date to about 65 to 85, and have sources and themes in common. The Gospel of John was composed around 90 to 95 and is distinct. So when we read about Mary Magdalene in each of the Gospels, as when we read about Jesus, what we are getting is not history but memory—memory shaped by time, by shades of emphasis and by efforts to make distinctive theological points. And already, even in that early period—as is evident when the varied accounts are measured against each other—the memory is blurred.

You all had great answers & based on the varied information that is out there all your conclusions make perfect sense. As a special thanks to all of you I am hoping ALL the runners up will take advantage of a 90 minute date with me for my one hour rate. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
