TER General Board

It's one of the pitfalls of being in this profession I suppose...

You can screen thoroughly but that won't stop all cancellations.  Taking deposits helps but will likely decrease the amount of people who book.  Some just have schedules where a cancellation is unintentional.  I get very frustrated too so I have a cancellation policy that I think is very fair.

I'm quite frustrated and tired of hobbyists that can't keep appointments. I've noticed guys love to make appointments and don't keep them... then they want to come the day after but "unfortunately" something is going to happen, of course!

Just venting!

have your cancelation policy stated at the end of every email and communication on p411, ter, etc..
Also on your website, all your ads, etc. So there's no "accidents".
Real information helps too. I screen well, and have no issues with cancelations because I only meet the type of gentleman that would take serious a date with me... not game players.

the millennials (under 35) who have grown up at a time when nobody takes personal responsibility for anything and everyone gets a trophy no matter how bad they suck at something.  I see more and more providers advertising no one under 40, so I have to believe what they're saying.

Exactly and I do have my cancellation policy on my website. I guess I will have to put it on every email and p411 too since some guys don't look at websites!

I don't think it has anything to do with age. Some of these guys are well over 40!

I tend to agree that it has little to do with age. Go back hundreds of years and every generation blames the younger generation for a set of faults. There are good and bad all over. I tend to agree that screening would weed some of it out though as patterns tend to repeat themselves.

I have no problem with a provider who states that she has cancellation policies in place, within reason of course.  I try not to book unless I know my schedule for sure, of course things happen like emergencies, but I don't recall ever having to cancel an appointment and definitely not showing up for one.  This game is like a box of chocolates, you know the rest of the saying.  I don't think it has anything to do with age as much as overall maturity.  This is really sad as I do see how this screws with a providers scheduling and money.  You could perhaps try a scheduling fee, but as another lady said, it may deter a few clients from booking with you.  Not to try and offer advice, but maybe a standby list of guys that would readily come over should you have a no show?
