Female condoms have come up a couple of times lately, and I started wondering about a couple of things I don't think I've seen addressed here.
First, are they getting to be more commonly used? When I was last active 10-15+ years ago, I never encountered one, and I don't remember them being discussed on TER then. Of course I was never that high-volume a guy, so that doesn't necessarily mean a lot.
Second, how would you find out whether a provider uses them? It doesn't seem like the kind of thing a lady would want to be asked about beforehand.

I'm a huge fan of female condoms! I've been using them for about 4 years now. I never leave the house without them, because you just never know!

But still my preference is a condom .
None of the drugstores near me carry them. I have to order them online. They are a little more expensive, take a little longer to "install" and are larger to carry in one's bag. That said, they allow for friction on the penis instead of shielding the skin from friction while thrusting. A female condom has saved the day many times for gents who wither at the sight of a traditional condom. Enjoy!
