TER General Board

I don't "view" them at all...

...and it doesn't matter at all whether they are retired or still active in this playground. What matters is what they post. All us are judged by what we write. So a retired John can actually contribute more than some of us narcissistic assholes that do spend money on hookers.  The same is true of the other side.

Who do not actively participate in the exchange of hobby funds anymore.

Should retired providers and Johns no longer be participating on the boards?  When you retire from the P4P aspect of the hobby, should you leave the boards too?

There is no magical way to tell who is a current or past participant, retired, on a break or one who has never participated.

As for board participation - I firmly believe that the more the merrier. We have some dead boards and periods of inactivity that could certainly benefit from more people posting their thoughts and ideas.

I'd rather spend my time finding ways to draw lurkers INTO the conversations.

That they're retired, or taking a break, etc, etc but there's always some snarky ass bitches who chime in claiming if you're not active, you shouldn't be here. I've been participating on this board for nearly 2 decades and my skin is thicker than Rhino dick so a couple of tired fatties aren't going to hurt my feelings.  I was interested in hearing the thoughts of others with regards to when or if you should stop participating.

Some TER folks are like members of my extended and somewhat dysfunctional family so I don't see myself being intimidated into silence anytime soon.

Nothing wrong with hearing from people who have lots of experience.

...whether you are still an active employee or a retiree, all are welcome.

and as in any "normal" family there will always be the grouch, drama queen, know-it-all, etc. Makes it that much more interesting!

I don't consider myself "retired," but lack of funds and/or time keeps me inactive for shorter or longer stretches.  I don't see why someone in a similar situation, or someone who really is retired, shouldn't keep participating if they want to.

We didn't catch your username?  I can usually tell who real hobbyists are versus the lurkers from the content of their posts.  However, just because someone retires doesn't wan their counsel is no longer valuable to newer hobbyists.

I am currently on hiatus and although I've removed my website and ads, I hope you will still allow and welcome me to post on the discussion boards (from time-to-time) because my TER family has become a very important part of my life...and, I'd sincerely miss interacting with all of you.

One good thing...at least no one will now bitch at me and yell threAD. :D lol

Should "active" players be participating if they post a lot of fancy, even misleading or even harmful, advice?

monitor my regional board as well as "new reviews" just to be prepared for when I returned. While away I do post less if at all.
