... to arrest you. Proving you are doing something illegal is not the cop's job. That's up to the DA.
LE only needs probable cause to make an arrest and for that they can cite any number of known "suspicious" actions or activities such as:
1. Placing an ad on a web site known to be used for illegal activities
2. Possessing condoms
3. Possessing lots of cash
4. Single person staying at a hotel known to be used for illegal activities
5. Talking on the phone in "code" using words like in call, outcall, stress relief, full relaxation, etc.
6. Any goddam thing they decide is suspicious.
They count on most providers who get arrested admitting they were engaging in illegal activity, usually through coercion or threats of higher charges if they don't 'fess up. Even if you stay silent (and believe me you should ALWAYS stay silent and demand an attorney), you will go through a terrible ordeal getting booked, staying in lockup, trying to make bail, having all of your property confiscated (cash, clothes, phone, car, etc.) as evidence, and more.
If you suspect you've been pinged by LE don't wait to find out and hope they can't prove you are doing something illegal. If they find you, you WILL be arrested no matter what they see or don't see.
Just get out asap and find a new place to work.

No cops showed up and it was probably a pimp out to rob me. Weird... for northern virginia lol.
I had a somewhat similar experience a few weeks ago. A person contacted me and asked for something I didn't offer and when I said no they started calling me all sorts of names. Out of curiosity I googled the number and another provider popped up. My first thought was that a pimp was behind it. A few years back in a town close by a pimp would call the competition to set up meetings and when he got there he would threaten and rob them to run them off. Anyhoo...it's just a thought.
