But I guess if your favorite hooker is offering a discount to travel to some narrow swath of the USA just to give you a BBBJ during an eclipse, you do need to plan way in advance.

If you find any takers, next you can travel north of the arctic circle during Winter solstice.

Good luck

I'm all about the moon. ALL about it and a bit of astrology.
I don't mention this often because most men care less or have zero interest in the moon, much less astrology.
Kudos xoxo

This is oddly random because this is on my "Wanderlust" page. I offer a "Wanderlust Incentive" for travel bookings if it's on my wishlist.

This is awesome because this total solar eclipse will be the first in 40 years that is visible from the continental U.S. The path will slash across the nation from Oregon to South Carolina. The location for such prime time viewing you ask? Jackson Hole, where the the scenery is to die for, the vistas are expansive, and the light pollution is minimal.

FWIW light pollution has no affect on a total solar eclipse.  What you're looking for is the location with the best odds for clear days in late August.   You will also find out that most hotels and motels along the center line, and up to 100 miles on either side, are already booked.

I don't know what to do and I'm always in the dark

It is ironic that in such a high political environment that this is going to happen.  KISMET?

Plus a half-assed penumbral lunar eclipse (moon just gets dimmer as it passes thru the sun's shadow).

If booked too far in advance, isn't there a chance that the Sun might NCNS?

I can just hear the excuses.
"There was a bad solar storm that day, so I couldn't do the eclipse. Let's reschedule."
"Sorry. my assistant double booked me for Earth AND Venus that day and forgot to tell you that I couldn't make it."
"I tried to call to let you know that I couldn't do the eclipse thing, but solar flares were messing with my cell signal."
"I was there on time and waiting but Moon didn't show up."
