Which court would be willing to hear the case? (eom)

END OF MESSAGE

There are other web sites with names that I won't repeat, since TER then probably disallows this post, but things like "the erotic simian" and "gfe simian". These seem to exist by stealing pictures from ladies web pages and making verbatim copies of TER reviews and reposting.

A couple of mine are now there, and one lady has asked me if I knew of this and how to get it removed.

Anyone? Or is this just a fact of life on the internet?

I would think TER would object as well...

I imagine they exist to get clicks for their hosted ads.

You let a provider put photos of you on her website, and now they've been stolen by another site?  If that's the case, I have two words for you . . . Complete idiot!!!  If I'm misunderstanding your post, please clarify.

i think he is referring to the reviews he has written, not pics

Uh, no, I'm not quite that dumb. The site took pictures from her web page and my review text.

I like some of the ladies quite a lot, but not enough to let them put pictures of me on their web pages :).

On the other hand, if your photos were on their websites, other women might mistake you for a porn star!

many of us have tried to get ourselves off these sites to no avail...i even noticed they slightly changed some handles from the review they stole from here

How the fuck did YOUR pictures end up on her site and get copied elsewhere??

This is the "poster child" example of how privacy is threatened by too much of this internet stuff.

See my reply above, it's not my pictures, but pictures from her web page and the full verbatim text of my TER review.

All of our reviews and posts belong to TER.  We agreed to that when we signed up.

I will argue that a Provider can quote a portion from a review under "fair use" and use snippets on her website. When a third party steals her ad so that the third party site now INCLUDES TER COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL, I wonder if TER would be willing to go after them with a warning and even a threat to ban their ads, websites, domains from mention on TER (in Profiles, Ads or even discussions).

Thanks for correcting my hasty error about thinking you were in pictures. My next Q was going to ask if they were regular pictures or xray84 pictures.  Never mind.

Through legal channels several years ago. Either they are not having much luck or it's a really slow process (as is most legal matters)

OP didn't mention which site he is referring to, but why doesn't TER just ban that site from TER and any mention of it on TER boards?  The site could easily remove the ban by agreeing to take down ads if the Provider complains. Done deal!

...including myself use synonyms to refer to it as the OP did.

Well I hadn't seen a link to it here since the issue first came up a couple of years ago. Any direct mention of it will likely be removed.

Got it. I guess I don't see any Profile links but I have seen the full name show up once in a while on a board. Probably just a post slipping thru the cracks.

The OP gave a huuuge hint at which site he was talking about. I am surprised you haven't figured it out. That site is definitely banned by TER. It is a review site so of course it is banned, but it is actually one that TER mentions by name as not being allowed if you read their Message Board Policies.

You might be thinking of sites like sugarnights and escort cafe, of which both have been discussed in recent threads here. Those are ad scraping sites that sometimes show up on providers profiles. There are a lot of issues with those sites but they are not banned by TER. The site this OP is talking about is a review site, which steals reviews from TER.

I have a similar problem. Someone linked an ad that I never placed to my profile. It's out of date by over 4 years and when you click the link to my OLD website it takes you to some dodgy site. After a week of trying to get them to remove it (surprise surprise no reply) I'm hoping TER will now remove it. Not helpful for me or clients...

It takes a lot of time and effort to get these taken down...sadly, I just don't have that time...so when a potential client calls I always ask where they saw my ad. If it is one of these fakes (some have fake reviews that are FALSE and misleading) I then need to clarify. Hopefully one of these days there will be an easier solution.

Doesn't help that support here insist on getting the link deactivated before they will remove it
As if those sites will respond - meh...
