Looking out kitchen window this morning, while washing dishes, I spied a Mockingbird fly down onto another of same species---don't know about sex:)) Any Hoo, they seemed to have a fairly good time for couple minutes, making lil Mockingbird baby eggs, butt, as I looked at them cavorting on the ground, I wondered if he? put on protection before nailing the she? on the ground:))? Are we the only species that has to wear the darn things to get it on with our "birds;P~~~" Life is so unfair:(( Thank goodness for the FC2 nowadays:))

Guess the MB was just adding to the pollen this morning----I washed my dark colored truck afterwards that had turned yellow:))  Wish my Tax check would hurry up and arrive so that I can do a lil pollinating myself, uh, the mind just thinks I am doing that, since the FC2 gives it the impression that the "pollen" is on target & doing its job---LOL

Day after day at this time of year, the NC trees involve us in their pollen-fuelled orgy and there's no escape.  They're orgasmically spewing all over the place, and it's on my car, in my hair, on my glasses, on my clothes...
Knock it off!

This morning it looked like a fog bank rolling across the highway, and seemed like the car should have slowed down as it hit the densest part of the pollen cloud.  The rainstorms today may be fierce, but it's the only defense we have to knock down the pollen count to a tolerable level.

To those who are allergic to the pollen, you have my deepest condolences - this time of year must suck!

Also it rained yesterday and we're going to get some rain and a whole lot more later today/evening.

Thank goodness I have a garage...

Suck that is lol! I was taking Zyrtec til I realized THAT was what was making me fall asleep sitting up lol. Now, Im gonna try Claritin (I think thats how its spelled) and hope its non drowsy :) C'mon rain, I need you right now lol!!

BTW doing the happy dance over spring being here for good now!

Steph xoxo

Zyrtec, Allegra and Claritan are all same generation antihistamines.  Benadryl ( diphenhydramine) will most definitely make you drowsy and it is an older antihistamine.  It works far better than the newer ones  ( studies proved ) but people don't like to feel drowsy.  It is also used a a sleep aid.  Take it before bed if you need.   If you are congested due to allergies you will need the "plus D" formulation.  Zyrtec -D, Claritan -D, etc.  The decongestant works wonders but it is regulated and you have to ask the pharmacist for it and they have to keep a log since it contains pseudoephedrine.   I highly advise shopping around.  Prices vary greatly and ALL are available in generic brand.  Be careful however, because the brand name in some places is actually less expensive.  Pharmacies trying to rip people off on the generic.  Another good idea is to buy and use saline solution to keep your nasal passages washed out.  It helps.  Flonase is a mineral corticosteroid that works on inflammation, a major problem with allergies.  It is also statistically superior in results to Nasacort.  Using a antihistamine and Flonase is a solid way to try and stay ahead of the pollen and allergies.

The fog banks of pollen where all over the place today, fortunately I took some allegra and it didn't bother me too much. Sadly the allegra doesn't get the taste out of your mouth or that chalky feeling you get after walking around....

Lived all over, but never had allergies till I moved to SC. I couldn't figure out why I had migraine level head aches and my face felt like I was hit w a ton of bricks. Took sinus meds out of desperation and felt good as new. Def could do wo this!

For those of you getting knocked out by allergies meds, I take the sinus pain and pressure from Wal mart, its cheap, it works and doesn't knock you out.

You are using a decongestant which indeed will take away sinus pain and pressure.  Wont do much for allergies.  The build up of mucus and other allergy contaminants also give many people sinus infections this time of year and can make your head feel like it's about to explode.   You will need a anti-biotic to resolve that.
