I'll agree on the "Sarah Palin" part because they did say that alot, but I don't remember a bunch of "Senator John McCain".  Maybe you are right and it's just that he wasn't my guy, but Bill Clinton wasn't either (not that I'm laying a lot of claim towards Bush...but I did vote for him as the lesser of evils), and I only really remember him as "President Clinton" when referred to by the media, and he was their guy as much as Obama.

Anyway, I just wondered if it was just me noticing the difference or if it was apparent to everyone.  I didn't want to blow it up into a right or wrong politics discussion, hence the reason I orginally posted it in the GD board.

Has anyone else noticed that the media constantly refers to our new president as "President Barack Obama" instead of "President Obama".  Is there any reason for this?  I don't remember "President George Bush" or "President Bill Clinton" every time they were mentioned(sure sometimes, but not EVERY time).  And sure, sometimes Bush got his middle initial mentioned, but normally that was when they were talking in a context where the 2 president Bush's (H and W) could be mixed up.

I don't know if it is because it sounds better that way, or if "President Obama" sounds too much like "Osama" that they add in the first name, but it just seems odd and has been bugging me since the guy got into office....well really before that since he was referred to as "President Elect Barack Obama" from Nov to Jan.  Heck by the time they said that mouthfull a few times in a broadcast, the news was over.

Hopefully that doesn't come off as political, if it does, move it to that board.

Because it was a question about the news media, not the President himself.  I didn't mention anything about the guy's politics or even which type of media (liberal or conservative) does it more.

But anyway, that's why I said 'move it' if you feel it is needed.  No need to give me the stinkeye!

Honestly, the only reason it bugs you is because you don't like him.  It wasn't the guy you voted for.

How do I know?  Because I hated hearing "Senator John McCain" and "Alaskan Govenor Sarah Palin" all the damn time.

It's not your fault you notice these things, it's just our DNA.  If we don't like things we start picking away at it and notice things that ordinarilly we would not.
