Another promise under the bus

During the campaign, Obama promised to label the Turkish/Armenian conflict as "genocide."

He has now changed his position and will not lobby for that.

By they way, I think he is right now. Turkey is an incredibly important ally right now. They are a moderate Moslem country in a crucial location.  (also one of my best trips)  We really need their good will and should not waste it.  The incidient with the Armenians was terrible, but it is an historical grievance.  The name that is given to it now is less important than the real world politics of 2009.

The problem with Obama is he should have known this last year, and not made an empty promise that could only generate bad feelings.

But what the hell. It's only one more promise.

Maybe tomorrow we will have another broken promise

Empty suit + empty promises = 0 in White House

Hank Paulson, Geintner, Pelosi, Maxine Waters, Barney Frank et al, are all part of the same hyprocrisy. While the adminstration and even GOP leaders demean people for earning their paychecks at AIG, President Obama is hosing his constituency and they are bending over and saying thank you. Here is an example:

The mortgage-rescue plan which is suppose to help homeowners facing foreclosure and whom a majority happen to be Democratic constituents is really a sham. Which is Ok for me, because I don't have one of those adjustable rate mortgages.

...but here is the bottom line on this so called rescue plan:

(1) the rescue package excludes anyone who has lost their job,
(2) it also excludes those who can’t afford to make their payments if they spend more than 31 percent of their income towards the mortgage i.e. your debt to gross income ratio.
(3)  your also screwed if your mortgage exceeds your home’s value. The term is underwater, which is practically everyone.

If you have a temporary loss of income, or have reduction in your household income or if your debt increases due to bills etc. Obama is not going to help you. Do not expect the housing market to pick up soon because the administration has also reduce the mortgage interest tax credit.

Yep.... another promise bites the dust. I suggest those who are waiting for the government to bail you out, look for ways to make money. Last week I stated that General Electric at $6.00 a share was a bargain, today it is over $10.00 a share.
