Not all these gals are going to fit into your preferred mode of operations, so you have to be flexible and work out some ways to take advantage of spontaneous opportunities. I'm one of those guys who needs to plan ahead most of the time. I usually make a date for every couple of weeks, and that gives me time to move things around on my calendar so I can be available when the girl is available.
This means that it works best for me to make dates at least a week in advance, and a couple of weeks is even better. For example, I have a date set up for this coming week (it was set up about 4 weeks out) and another date already set for two weeks after that. This appointment was made almost two months ago. I'm starting to think ahead for a date that I could set up for the end of April.
But as I look at the ad board I find all these desirable girls informing us that they are going to be in town in just a couple of days from the day the ad appears. But by then I almost always already have a date set up, or else it might be too late to make arrangements to find free time during the one or two days the girl is going to be here.
Girls: Why not give us a lot more notice that you are going to be here, so the guys like me who need time to set things up can do so? Then, post a reminder a couple of days before you arrive? Are there reasons not to do this that I don't know about?

I also take the same approach of Booking in advance, but only if it someone whom I haven't seen that requires screening. Of course there are a few (local) girls whom I've seen before that I can arrange a date with within a 12-24 hour period. But in special cases where I'll have a date open up 2 weeks to a month out, I'll look to request a date with a girl whom I've never seen before that requires screening. I usually check both The TER Carolina's Ad Board and Date-Check to see if anyone is coming in to town. I usually like to look for out-of-towners first. But If I have a change of heart, I'll just check to see the availability of those who are based in my area. I usually contact a provider 2 weeks away from my open date at the very latest. 2 weeks is enough time to get screened and to get an appointment set up.
I also would really like to see more girls post there traveling dates as soon as they are set. I too have seen where I've booked a date, only to see that the week of it several other desirable women will post saying that they will be in the area also. I fully understand that these providers have their reasons, but it wouldn't hurt if they gave at least 2 weeks notice or more. I'm not mad about it, I just wish that some providers would go the extra mile and post in advance .
...but maybe the putting up an ad merely a few days or 1 week coming to visit works for some ladies.
Creating a sense of urgency .... like "get it while i'm here" yields more business for them. Ymmv.
My touring availability is more limited than it used to be so i'm definitely a planner
I also plan well in advance, out of necessity. I don't live in a hot bed of the hobby, and have to drive a minimum of an hour to play. Taking care of work is necessary, not too difficult with some notice, self employed, but need a viable excuse to be going in the opposite direction from my business. I get emails from great ladies who I would love to see, but they come 1 or 2 days before they are coming. No time to plan.
Lately, I have been sticking to booking on my business trips, well in advance. I already have a September date set on a trip out west. NC ladies are the best.
I can truly see both sides of this, ladies book out too far, get cancelled on last minute and loose money. Not all of us can be easily screened to make it easy for them to fill last minute. When I book out weeks or months in advance, I will offer an upfront donation to secure the date.
Tough situation for all of us.
So I have a tendency to pack up my caravan and travel whenever the wind feels right. Usually, this translates into a one-week notice that I will be touring certain cities. Naturally, some men like the OP like to plan in advance, so they miss their opportunity to meet me that trip.
I'm not sure about other ladies, but I have a 'city contact list'. If I'm touring and a gent wants to see me that trip, but can't due to work or other obligations, I add him to the list and email him when I know I will be in that city again.
Point well taken...think you could always hit up ladies that you see generally post or ad in the area then hit them up to see if their schedule is open to a better planned date. I am just now trying to be more open to meeting new friends in the area when I am in town with scheduled appts only as my schedule gets tighter around NC/SC as well. I will take your suggestion...I usually find that ads too far out don't get noticed. In the DC area the ladies do post well in advance along with some in the moment so it must be a regional thing.
