Most of my entertaining is done in my home. Once in a while, when I'm traveling, I use my hotel room. In both cases, I ask my dates not to come in uniform (ie; mini-skirt, bra top and hooker boots) but to dress casually instead. Most ladies interpret casual as a cute top with slacks or nice jeans. One likes to wear a business suit. If I have plans to take my date out to dinner, to a show or some other high-end place, I'll let them know ahead of time so they can bring the appropriate clothing.
When a provider shows up at your door, would you prefer to see her in a dress, or is slacks acceptable? Sometimes, with the weather change, it's just too cold for a dress so I bring something to put on when I get to my destination. Usually, I always try to look nice, no matter what I'm wearing. Plus, depending on the hotel, more conservative clothes are more appropriate with maybe a hint of lace and cleavage peering through the outfit.

I love legs so my favorite is a hot dress. For some reason, I just don't like to see a girl in slacks. However, being discreet is very important so changing in the room is perfectly OK. Also, because of the hotel or time of day, arriving in a dress is sometimes inappropriate. Just the fact that you asked is great!
Slacks are always okay by me.
What ever they show up in is fine. One of the ladies I see that I've gotten to know real well will show up in her "real clothes" at times.
since I only do incall, a towel is all she needs to be wearing when I show up. I luv to have her greet me, freshly showered and her hair still damp.
As long as the guy doesn't ask for anything special to wear ... wear what you feel comfortable in ... you can always change into a teddy or something later .... I perfer you only to wear a smile .....
I've always preferred a very casual look unless we're going out somewhere.
As long as you looked nice and not like you just ran a marathon. And smelling like it.
Nice conservative yet sexy attire always works for me, but everyone is different.

it depends on the person.
I have knows some girls I would preferred in jeans, some in a business suit, and some in a casual dress. IMO, unless the customer makes a specific request, whatever the woman is the most comfortable in is what she will be sexiest in. Usually, by the time I know her a little through the first meeeting, I can tell whether I would prefer something or not, and then I will request it.
Addendum: I notice that some guys have said "It doesn't matter what she wears", which, obviously, is true to a certain extent. However, I have had three providers who have made a significant good impression on me by what they chose to wear: one wore a beautiful summer dress that was as bright and pretty as the girl herself, one wore a pair of jeans that accentuated her best asset (no pun intended) and a lovely fluffy white sweater that complimented her light skin tone and hair color and just made you want to sink into her bosom, and one who wore a pair of soft casual pants and a high cut sleeveless shirt that was like a thin colored body outline and which drew attention to every angle of her luscious figure, especially her nipples. These outfits were not complicated, but they accentuated perfectly the women's personality and sexuality.
What a provider wears may not be the bottom line, but it can heighten the mood significantly if it is done well.

One time in Phoenix a provider showed up in Daisy Dukes and a top that barely covered her mounds. Anyone who might have seen her walk down the hall in the hotel would have known what she was about and if they saw her go into my room they would have known what we were up to.
So conservative sexy attire (i.e., form fitting slacks) are fine. Sweat pants No.

being comfortable is the key. Sometimes at these meetings we can be a little nervous and whatever makes you both the most comfortable is what I choose. Let her know in advance and let her choose what to wear.
Casual, formal, business, it doesn't really matter to me.
As you said, she has the option of changing when she gets there if she wants.

But I just got some leather pants and jacket at a high end thrift store. It was a splurge, but I showed up in NYC in my orange flip flops and shorts. I know...I know...but I live at the beach! Hey when the weather report said sunny, I didn't know that meant 50 degrees!
First impressions are important, and I would wear something form fitting but warm! Its fun to add layers, it makes the strip more fun. When I travel I wear sweats, and my orange flippies, which I change out of and into my suit and stillettos on the plane before landing.
I am soaking in the tub now, and can feel my toes again! Brrrr!! I need a room temp Black and Tan VR!
A woman in conservative, business attire is attractive to me. It doesn't matter whether she wears a dress or slacks. The well dressed woman will always get my attention.

Sorry to drag our mutual Army backgrounds into this, but before I die, I want, no, I need to extract you sloooooooowly from a pair of BDU's only to find thigh-highs (can you get those in olive?) underneath.
BTW, is it just me... I absolutely, positively love unwrapping the present myself... *Definitely* prefer to remove street clothes from the provider myself rather than having her appear from the other room in lingerie. Since thigh-highs are about my only lingerie need, it's easy to have them tucked away under any outfit.
Also, I agree with Destructs "addendum" earlier about how the outift doesn't have to be fancy, just has to match the provider's personality and provide a visual "cue" about her own sexuality.
That could be interesting. I wonder if they still fit me. I was pretty skinny back then (too skinny). I can bring some MREs and we can pretend we're eating them, but I think I'd like to lick them off of your chest.

My first reaction is "whatever she is comfortable with" but after giving it some thought, that's not quite true. I think that what i mean is that there are several ways to go on this. Once when I arrived at an upscale hotel in-call, the provider was wearing a very chic business suit and I was absolutely enthralled and quite impressed. [She was also very beautiful] The other day, at a similar hotel, the lady [a different one] was wearing a mini-skirted, form fitting silver, satiny sheath and I couldn't have been more captivated. So, i guess that there is no one answer, except that i do not appreciate sloppy [ex. baggy gray sweats] or attire that will attract undue attention from the concierge or my neighbors.
how bout a slutty,sexy red vinyl dom outfit revealing some of those huge "mountains" with 6" heels.

Personally I like to see her ell groomed. Anything classy is great for me. It all comes off sooner or later.
The more natural the better. Jeans and a t-shirt would be fine. If a providor is going for a GFE experience then go for it. An AFT I adore took awhile to understand that "whatever you wear everyday is what I want to see" meant just that.
Whatever the circumstances, it's acceptable to me that a provider show up in slacks and bring something to put on. It may be stunning to see you decked out for the first impression, but the drawback is that it draws too much unwelcomed attention. An incall is better for these stunning first impressions.
Sometime subtle is better. That description you gave of conservative clothes with "lace and cleavage peering through the outfit" sounds hot.

I am probably in the minority, but I like to have my visitor dressed to avoid drawing any attention to herself. Neat and clean, but low-key. So slacks, sneakers, and a bulky sweater are fine.
The transition from that look to the glories of womanhood on display just hooks me.

and only you know what that is. As an example, if you're big, avoid white and horizontal stripes ... The rest is a matter of taste, which cannot be imparted but is no less important.
