brought out. But backpage has nothing to do with it. In fact, backpage helps catch the traffickers. Now that LE knows where to look, it's easier to set them up. If BP shuts down, these pimps will go underground to traffic these women possibly back on the street where it is a harder to catch them.
BP is actually one of the best weapons we have against under age trafficking, and I'm trying to argue that point. I've been in touch with one of the lawyers that is handling the case for the two men (not Ferrer) that are caught up in this mess. Saying that they are pimping is similar to saying that if you have prostitutes on 2nd avenue then the government is pimping since they provided a place for them to go. Once could argue that the government of the city knew about it and did nothing. Obviously you realize that point is ridiculous. But, the situation is similar. I'm hoping to bring up these points as a strategy for the defense.
As much as people slam BP, it is the only games in town in a lot of places. We have Eros and cityvibe, but guys don't typically respond to those ads. We have ter, but as a masseuse, I can't expect to get 2 or 3 guys a day off of it.
