I had commented earlier on this post, but here's another one that might be
of interest to some:

Do you know where the expression "Balls To The Wall" came from????

It came from the aviation industry back in the 40s, or 50s, perhaps earlier. The throttle
knobs on the cockpit control pedestal were round...ball shaped.  

When it came time for a plane to take off, the pilot would call "balls to the wall",
which meant full-throttle, full power to the engines. In other words, the throttles
were pushed to the fire"wall" as far forward as they would go, hence "Balls To The Wall".

The term is still used today, although there are now more high-tech terms in
use as well.
