Most companies hate when their CEO gets arrested for pimping.

Several courts have upheld BP first amendment rights and BP actually works with LE if requested to help with traffickers and underage girls. Texas has their own moral standards they are trying to apply but doubt they ll change anything.

The problems BP faces have nothing to do with Texas, their biggest problems are in the very BLUE states of Illinois and California, sorry if the facts don't coincide with your built in biases.

What a coincidence? Kamala Harris just happens to be running for Congress...

Someone there is applying moral standards and using them as a basis for charging someone unrelated to the trafficking crimes that took place. It's a stunt you see politicians everywhere try. You know as well as I do how Christian parts of Texas are. Hell they still have dry counties...
If not there is case law on the books protecting backpage unless Texas can prove the ceo knew; should have known or was complicit in the actual trafficking.

The CEO was picked up in Texas, but on a CALIFORNIA warrant.

Backwards Christian redneck states hardly have a monopoly on imposing their moral views on the rest of us. Lets just look at where the hobby and Back Page has come under the most severe attack/s Lets start with Tom Dart in Chicago, which is in the very blue state of Illinois, How about the shit that went down in Seattle in the equally blue state of Washington. Then there is the arrest that happened in Texas, but that was an arrest warrant issued, once again in the very blue state of California.

Now if you want to shift gear and look at the Thai bust for so called Human Trafficking which anyone with half a brain knows is complete and utter bullshit, where did most of those arrests take place? Big surprise, of the four cities with the most arrests three of the four were in the very blue cities of LA, Chicago, and your own home town of Minneapolis, with only one city being located in the Bible Belt if you can even consider Atlanta part of the deep south anymore.

I am sorry, but the facts completely contradict your statements. I know it would be convenient to blame these bullshit arrests on a bunch of backwards rednecks from the Bible Belt, but guess what? That not what actually happened.

Now why don't you go rent a clue and come back when you have even the slightest idea what the fuck you are talking about.

It sure was being promoted as a Texas investigation and arrest this morning.
        ABC news 14 hrs ago
HOUSTON, Texas — Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton made the highest-profile human trafficking bust in the Lone Star State’s history on Thursday afternoon. Backpage.com is set to be shutdown as a result. Paxton said that the victims that are sex trafficked include both voluntary and involuntary participants. The head of the organization, Carl Ferrer, has been arrested at a Houston airport.

        Later today
"Paxton said Ferrer will face state charges related to pimping in California first.

A lengthy joint investigation by the offices of the Texas and California attorneys general uncovered evidence that adult and child sex trafficking victims were forced into prostitution through escort ads that appeared repeatedly on backpage.

Paxton said investigators repeatedly warned the website about the alleged illegal activities, but that the company continued to allow the ads."

It reads like Texas and their AG had a bit more to do with it than just helping California serve their arrest warrant. It really doesn't matter who where or how. I said that freedom of speech and back pages rights are protected unless they knowingly allowed minors or victims of trafficking to have ads placed. Either way, Texas, California, Chicago or Seattle will lose their case most likely and waste taxpayers money on it. There are religious nuts in every state, but I am not really saying that s the reason behind it. But I d bet you five to one Texas AG is very religious and using this as a pulpit to advance his career. You want to take that?

But some of the Christians there are bat shit crazy. Think there's more than a few schools there that still only teach creationism...
But that was never the point of either my first two posts. Someone in power in Texas was using their morality to try and change the way the law is meant to be viewed. No different than the other cases you mention. They just didn't happen today

What does Texas morality have to do with a CALIFORNIA arrest warrant?

If you want to make a point about twisting the law, you need to look to Sacramento, not Austin.

Or are you just ashamed to admit that there are some BSC Christians in CA as well as Texas?

Wow. Yes it was a California warrant.
The Texas sure made a point of grandstanding, 35 agents, huge press conference, he said Texas was going to charge him after California. Don't take it the wrong way. I love much about Texas but you don't think the AG went way beyond his duty if he was simply serving a warrant? They spent three years working with California investigating BP. Both states wasted huge amount of time and money for 2 AG's to make a political statement.
California is more fucked up than Texas and I have very little hope of them pulling their political correct heads out of their asses. Texas I still have quite a bit of hope for. Guess that's why I was sort of disappointed their AG was allowed to do this.

and I didn't really mean to defend Texas as Paxton really is a Bible Thumping cretin who I wouldn't support for dogcatcher.

Lets just agree that ALL the states are guilty here, with California, Illinois (Well Chicago at least) and Texas appearing to be leading the charge.

I just wanted California to get top billing as it was their arrest warrant that was served, and it would have been served no matter which state he had landed in, and most likely the AG of what ever other state he had landed in would have made political hay with it as well. Like the GEICO commercial says "it's what they do"

Stemming from a 3 year investigation by the CALIFORNIA Attorney General. Gets your facts straight. I have a feeling that he would have been taken into custody whatever airport he happened to fly into

JakeFromStateFarm365 reads

They busted him at the Houston airport after his flight landed, so Immigration probably was told by Dutch authorities when they saw his passport.  If he'd flown to NY first he would have been busted there.

And he has arrest authority in all states. Did Obama swear him in as a federal agent like Nixon made Elvis a DEA agent?
Stick to topics you know about so you don't continue to look like an idiot.

It was a California warrant, to blame the "backwards Texas AG" is ridiculous, although those words are fitting where it comes to Paxton, who really is a Bible thumping nut job, but that is beside the fact. The warrant was issued in California and to blame Bible thumpers in Texas for BP's bigger problems in the very blue areas of Chicago and California is horseshit.

Once again you prove JLS has your brains as well as your balls, but in this case you have plenty of company on the short bus.

An on-line media report that just posted today sheds light in this subject.

Texas is involved because the Backpage corporate headquarters is located in Dallas.  (Although officially Backpage is a Netherlands limited liability corporation.)  But, as has been stated previously, the arrest warrant was from California.  (Apparently the California statute for "pimping" is quite broad in definition.)  The report stated that the California Attorney General (deep blue) and the Texas Attorney General (bright red) have cooperated extensively in this case.  (Who says there is no more bi-partisan cooperation?!)   The subject in question is currently being held without bail in a Sacramento, California jail.

Also, as has been mentioned earlier, but is worth repeating:  The California Attorney General is currently running for the U. S. Senate from California.

It's a BIG win for the lawyers. BP has deep pockets and can afford the best lawyers out there. The State of Texas doesn't pay the same and they certainly don't attract  lawyers from the best law schools. This is just a free "political" ad for Texas (and California) politicians who know the case will be tied up for years but they got the big headline, "The BP CEO was arrested in Texas by the Texas AG" - big fucking deal!

If you think the govt. is going to win this one. Just cheap election year theatrics is what it is. Everybody knows "trafficking" is nothing but a myth and a scam to rip off the taxpayers money.

JakeFromStateFarm520 reads

And he'll be right.  Trafficking DOES exist, it just doesn't account for all prostitution, far from it, especially not independent girls like you find on TER.  It also is used for non-prostitution jobs.  Saying it doesn't exist at all is just dumb.  And wrong.

And part of why it exists is the criminalization of sex work.

And part of why it exists is the criminalization of sex work.

The first time I heard that was on Yahoo this morning.  They had an article about the arrest, of course, but it was the "comments" section below the article that got my attention.  9 out of 10 people commenting had a variation on your statement above.  9 out of 10 think prostitution should be legalized, and LE efforts concentrated on underage trafficking.  9 out of 10 thought the arrest was a publicity stunt for politicians, and a waste of taxpayer money.  9 out of 10 were wondering how the fuck they're going to make pimping charges stick for the CEO, and they were also wondering why LE wasn't going after the actual pimps in the cases cited.  As usual, the public is way ahead of the politicians when it comes to the issues.

I am certain it won't hold up, but it sucks that they have to go through this, and that so many people are now at risk. It's all BS. When will they decriminalize already???

with all the fake pics BP knowingly allows to be reproduced for commercial use.

Some media reports BP has been shut down, but hasn't been yet.  I believe it's hosted in the Netherlands which we have a criminal treaty with but may take legal action in Netherlands to get shut down.

Charges are not sex trafficking but pandering - making money off prostitution is all that is needed for pandering

In Phoenix have zillions of cases for felony pandering, criminal enterprise etc and all have either pled guilty in plea agreements for probation instead of prison (the gals), and the owners take pleas with prison time but only 1-2 years vs 20+ possible if lost at trial.

One just got convicted at trial last week and faces years in prison when sentenced that ran an agency.  All consenting adults.  Many other cases pending and dozens have taken pleas in the last year or so.

The only hope is the ESLERP case now in early stages at the 9th Circuit challenging the prostitution law

Lets think about this. With BP being shutdown the BP providers will have do a lot of walking. That would be good for their health. They will be walking in the malls,  street walking places, bars, etc. They will flirt after guys, then afterwords say "Do you have any change ? ". IF they like the amount of change they will see the guy for repeat business.

The pimps/human trafficking folks have other means to stay under the radar. Never under estimate the human imagination.  You would be surprised all the schemes that are used.  Pimps are get over kings.

Sometimes you are on the dance floor and a babe will tell you it will cost you. Others will give out hints they are having hard times. The females are very creative and say things like "Do you want some of this, that will cost you". They know how to target a player. The downside is you could get in trouble if your wife/girlfriend is around. The other thing is that there has to be mutual attraction between both parties, it is like a meet and greet in real time lol.

Lots of books on amazon. Many pimps become preachers when they retire from pimping.

Also if BP goes away it will make it harder for LE to justify their vice budgets for prostitution. Cops will be reassigned. They will loose a major source of revenue from all those prostitution citations from BP stings. Lets face they really give out traffic tickets for revenue and promotions. Same with prostitution stings. I was reading in one county in Maryland guys had to pay bond of $7500 to get out of jail recently. The jurisdiction keeps 1 to 10% after the case is over regardless if the guy is guilty or not.

Something that I don't do. I am doing some java coding in my free time.  Application is almost finished lol.

Back Page is as low as you can go. I mean with reviews of girl like Peaches, Bubbles, Mocha and of course you can't forget Thunder how could it be anything less than Back Page.

Hmmm....I recall another guy who favors Back Page using an Alias.

Nah...couldn't be.....could it?

They are good providers on BP just like on any other site.  As matter of fact well reviewed providers ($500/$600 hour) use BP.  One told me that she is not getting the business that she use get off Eros and TER. She went to BP because more good customers are available.  Many of those good customers don't know about TER.

Funny you mention those names. I had very good experiences with them. Two of are GFE, the other played it safe with no kissing and cbj.

"Is that a mirror in you pocket cause I can see myself in your pants" is creative also.

you need to go back to your alias cause now you both are sounding like a fool.

Craigslist had to or chose to throw in the towel.  RB got busted, IIRC more on the funny money manipulation, BP is the next high profile target.

Though I don't really find much in the way of high quality ladies on BP, I'd hope that they can survive this...
...but my gut says they'll yield or fail.

There are still many hobby related ads on CL.  Sometimes you will see providers have ads on both BP and CL.  You have to be careful, in a state in the DMV (DC/Maryland/Virginia) region a state trooper was busted in a CL sting in a border town recently.

Lets not forget about all the other websites and mobile apps out there. Even adult dating sites. Years ago the first provider I saw was on yahoo personals.

There could be a strong First Amendment remedy for these kind of attacks which are obviously timed for the election.

One interesting thing about this is that if they do succeed in shutting down BP, where will LE go to set up stings?  I bet they haven't thought about that.

I wonder if Craig's List will re-emerge as a place to go

This is a VERY high powered, WELL funded religiously affiliated organization that has been operating quietly behind the scenes (meaning: not on the public media radar) pushing their agenda to the frightened, clueless masses through grassroots McCarthy era recruitment of amateur spies "for the cause" to working with LE and advancing their agenda by offering to "help" LE fight trafficking better with their "research" and "studies" and most important, by getting in the pockets of local politicians with money and implications that their political careers could be advanced significantly by getting on the "anti-human trafficking crusade" because who is ever going to say that they are FOR human traffickling? On the religious side, they lost the fight to criminalize abortion in the minds of the majority and, on the greed side, they have simply switched over to the anti-human trafficking bandwagon because it is a FREAKING CASH COW! If you can find the information, look at what this organization is bringing in terms of revenue and what it is paying its CEO and other officers. Its a lot of money for rallying the village to get their pitchforks and torches blazing in rank and file. This is the money train where you get paid for chasing phantoms that YOU get to determine are a major or minor threat and can only be combated by YOUR participation. Keep those cards and checks coming!

Also, interesting observation. This is a Catholic organization or founded by the Catholics. Have you noticed that no one has heard a priests or what the church is NOT doing about them since the anti-human trafficking campaign showed up at this party? That's right. In magic shows, they call it misdirection. By making you pay attention to something else momentarily, it allows them to do the real manipulation to keep the illusion together without you seeing it.

Food for thought but don't take my word for it. Research it yourself and dig deep, if you have the time. The politics are real ... just not as clean, cut and dry as it used to be when it was just local PD's and politicians trying to make a good PR news story for reelection and funding purposes. This time, the players involved are much bigger and the politics involved are coming down from the Church not the local nobody politician. "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!" Pay no attention to the little man hiding behind the curtain pulling all the strings to keep the illusion going....

Almost forgot: This is who you are looking for. Polaris Project. http://polarisproject.org/policy-legislation
