With the handgun added in, I'd say 5 to 10 years, but the majority of cases get some sort of plea deal so he would probably get sent to the nut house for 3 to 5. Maybe, depending on prior convictions.

I never worked Vice. Was offered the position a couple of times as a path to promotion. Think about that for a minute.
But turned it down for two reasons: first, I'm a live and let live kind of guy. And there's some REALLY, really bad people in this country that need to be removed from society and providers don't even make the radar screen.
Secondly my sights were set on homocide and that's where I ended up.
Vice gets more active in any area for a few reasons: the first is citizen complaints. Second is quotas...yes, there really are quotas.
Third is saturation. Get too many providers working the same area and you'd have to be blind to not notice.
Nobody wants the mayor or city council suggesting that crime is on the rise. That makes the bosses realllll unhappy which makes street cops unhappy
