Oh, wait, that's gun control.

For the hobby?  I don't think there is a way to control it, except maybe poverty.  Yeah, that'll do it every time

Lets face it this is the best hobby around.  I know I would spend every last dime on it if I didn't control it.  I do saving every month take money out of checking account to resist overspending on the hobby.

but "first cousins" wouldn't be far off in my book.

You should be putting more money from checking into our savings.
From us you get ecstasy. What did your bank give you – a calendar

I am addicted to sex, much the same way I am addicted to air, water and gravity.

"When confronted with temptation, give in to it."
Haven't seen that one (source?). More commonly:

“The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it. Resist it, and your soul grows sick with longing for the things it has forbidden to itself, with desire for what its monstrous laws have made monstrous and unlawful.” - The Picture of Dorian Gray

“I can resist anything except temptation.” - Lady Windermere's Fa

I consider it a life enhancement .
Or at the very least a value added aspect of life.

To me, a lot of things are more important and better than the hobby like the mortgage, the nest egg, the business, the sb...

For me the money is used for these things in this order:

1. Mortgage & Utility payments
2. Have enough money in the business to keep it running
3. Meet investment contribution goals

Then afterwards comes #4 which is the hobby and sugar land. Another way I control my hobbying is by having high standards when looking for a girl. Right now in Toronto the hobby is pretty boring with very few new talent and all the girls I am interested in I already have seen & repeated with until its become mundane. So I've gone back to sugar land and have been pretty lucky so far (its actually saving me money vs the hobby).

I don't think I've ever been addicted to this but if I were I would just jack off more, lol, this kills the need to p4p quite quickly.

I always liked the quote "I spent 50% of my money on alcohol, women, and gambling. The other half I wasted." - W.C. Fields

Yeah, I gotta cover my main bills and responsibilities first.

The rest kinda limits itself.  Only so much time available between other activities in life and availablitity.  Though if money was absolutely no object at all?  man.... i can only imagine!

take personal checks?  Care to share names?

I make no effort to control my hobby addiction.  It is what it is.  Do I spend more than I plan to?  Always.  I used to set a monthly budget, but then a few new girls would hit town that I absolutely HAD to see, so there went the budget.  If I can restrain myself enough to stay under $100k a year, I'm at peace with the whole thing.

...right hand and baby oil!!! :)...actually-I WORK AND MAKE MORE MONEY

Well, if you ever come to Dallas you can spoiled yourself with me. Hey! thats why you work so hard!! :)

I had two incidents that woke me up that I had gone over the edge. Sometimes I have to bring those up to myself to reel myself back in.

for P4P. The basics such as mortgage, utilities, food, etc. are taken care of first then a portion of what is not put into savings is tucked away for P4P.

I am religious about paying for my life. After that????? Game on. Sometimes, I binge, but in the end if I can't do the things I want to do(other than fucking hookers) then I have a problem and I put myself in check.

It is really all about discipline and also keeping the novelty alive.  I enjoy the excitement of hobbying once in a while but when I am doing ti too often I can easily take a break.

birthday, holidays, and celebration of major events (and consequent paydays) in my profession.  I'm a contractor and P4P heavily motivates me to land (and sell) those bigger contracts -- more profits, more lovely ladies....

Most of my hobbies are costly. I enjoy them all, including this one. To be able to maintain a happy balance, each hobby gets its natural turn. But I'm just like any other guy. Sometimes the addictive part takes control, and I go overboard. When that happens I go on hobby benders. 8 ladies in 4 days. 72 holes in two days. A 100 miler in five days. Those are wild and crazy times, but whenever I go on some sort of hobby bender, I have to get away from that particular hobby for several months. I've learned that my hobby life if much happier when I balance the addictive part of any hobby.

Of course, the other way I control it is by spending only what I have in discretionary savings. If I have nothing in savings, then I'll enjoy my free hobbies.

I've actually lost interest in the whole process.

I set aside $20 per week for my hobbying.  If I get in some overtime, or for some reason have some extra money left over after bills and shit, I will set an additional $20 aside.  It keeps me in the dating game, that's for sure.  And there's a hottie at work suddenly flirting with me, hmmm, let's see where this will go...

No addiction here, but if I were to win the Powerball or MegaMillions lottery, I could force myself into a hobby addiction, for sure.  LOL

I actually spend more money on vacation travel, than the "hobby", but like most of my other expenditures, I budget my discretionary funds wisely.

Only 5150 a month goes into it, but it probably covers close to half of what I'm typically willing to spend in a month's time.   I'll P4P that month only if I can afford the rest out of checking, taking into consideration what I'll also be spending on foreseeable living expenses and investments.  I also have a separate savings account for travel as well...I did use some of those funds for P4P while splurging on a recent trip last spring, but in general I try to keep the funding for the two activities separate.
