Here's a question for provider and client. When seeing a provider do you get a hotel room or do you trust them enough to see them at your personal residence? Providers same question in regards to incall? This question applies to newbie's and long term customers
Because I can control the environment and it feels more personal and intimate. I can light candles, play music, offer wine, adjust the lighting, put on some aromatherapy. I love it!

I would highly discourage having a hooker to your house if you are married. HIGHLY DISCOURAGE.

My default for a first time appointment with a girl is an incall at her hotel. But I've also done an incall at her residence, an outcall at my hotel, and an outcall at my residence without any issues so far. They've all got their own pros and cons, risks and rewards.
An incall at her residence can be great because she will have more options to boost the ambience - music, lighting, décor (e.g., nice large mirror by the bed), etc. If you like the fantasy aspect of the GFE, this can be a big win. But by having you over at her place, she's putting a fair bit of trust in you and you want to prove that she made the right choice there.
An outcall at your own residence obviously has the most safety issues for the client. Not too long ago, someone posted a news article about a guy who had a trashy BP girl over to his place. She came with some unexpected friends who tried to rob the guy. The homeowner got his gun and shot (and I think killed) one of the male attackers in self defense. Even if LEO does not press charges (self defense, look the other way on possible solicitation, etc.) that is still not a situation any of us wants to be in.
That being said, I've done an outcall at my place with no problems. It is certainly convenient and lets me get the ambience just the way I like it. There's no place like home after all. Of course, I'm divorced/single so that helps. And my place has some extra safety/security features so that also helps. But if I'm trusting her by bringing her into my home I will have either a) known her for a while and built that trust up over time or b) she is a very well-reviewed, well-regarded provider who has been at this for a while (i.e., unlikely to get attached or try some idiotic robbery scheme because she would have more to lose by soiling her reputation that way than she could possibly gain from anything she could do to me).
P4P. There is always a chance something could go wrong either that night or later on since they know where you live.
I live alone, so no worries there. And even seeing over a dozen unreviewed, unverified BP girls this year, my experiences are almost always positive. There are just too many advantages to an OC to my home (lighting, candles, music, and if she doesn't show, it's no big deal).
Getting a hotel would just make things more expensive (especially since I refuse to stay in anything less than 4 stars), and more difficult to setup. Many providers are reluctant to see clients at hotels, for fear of LE
I think of a sex worker like I do any other professional. My wife is one after all. I have no fear of a strange plumber coming to my house, so why would I fear a sex worker coming over. The only reason I don't host at home is my son might see, and I just will not fuck another woman in my wife's bed. I feel that is disrespectfull. Please note my wife knows, it is just a respect thing. A few ladies have been to my house, and more then a few invited me to theirs

Now I would if I was a lady not invite clients to my place until I knew them very well. I hear of too many stories of stockers and the like.
After I get to know her, and a high level of trust is established, I will have her over to my place. I love doing that, I can cook her a home-cooked meal, watch some erotic music videos on YouTube, and all kinds of other delicious activities to set the mood.

Going into someone elses space can be nerve wrecking which is why i no longer go to private residences. I have met a violent client before at his home 
even with screening in place i feel a set up is much more likely when you go into someone elses private space.
