... so here's a straight response: I haven't had to deal with this situation.  My ATF has been, and likely always shall be, my ATF (with acknowledgements to ST2:TWOK).  Even after she retires someday and I've moved on, I think she'll remain my ATF.  Of all the providers I've met, she is the perfect fit for what I seek in a p4p companion.  I may someday meet a provider who's a better fit, but I have my doubts.  

But I do see other providers and have a few favs whom I try to see as often as time and budget allows, and I see someone new every so often. I do that mainly because I enjoy the experience of meeting interesting people; I've met many wonderful ladies in this so-called hobby and gained much from those experiences.

My response exactly would be that you should take both as your AFT, but the point of an ATF is that she is someone you see can not be replaced.

I wish I could look at an ad and say, she's going to be my atf. It never works that way. Atfs are found when you least expect it.  

I've done it all with atfs. Sometimes I see five atfs at a time, and sometimes I strictly see one atf monogamously. When I'm in five atf mode, then I'm seeing new ladies occasionally to keep things honest. When I'm in one atf mode, she's the one and only. Both have advantages, and disadvantages. When working with five atfs, sometimes each one gets an equal turn. Sometimes it depends on a particular fantasy that needs fulfilling. Sometimes it's based on my travel schedule. Sometimes it's who's available during my small window of opportunity. Sometimes it's based on roulette (next lady to send a friendly, non booking email gets booked). And of course, sometimes it's based on price. Lastly, working with five atfs can be difficult. Sometimes ladies get mad when you see other ladies (yes, it's true). Sometimes, if a lady is mad at you, it will turn five atfs into four. The good thing, usually, is that make up sex in this venue is incredible. It's way better than wife, or girlfriend make up sex. When she comes back into the fold, because the sex goes wildly off the chart, you tend to see her a few times in a row.  

As far as transition goes, I've never had to worry about that. If she stays mad, there's your transition. Sometimes her schedule can't accommodate you anymore. Sometimes she retires. Sometimes she moves. Sometimes what she did to become your atf no longer happens, and you look elsewhere for fulfillment. I've never really grown tired of an atf per se. It's always some extenuating circumstance that moves this fleeting hobby to the next lady.

ATFs do come and go of course. Sometimes they retired, sometimes they just disappeared. Sometimes I fired them because of their complacency and declining performance. The way I find new ATFs is through constant auditioning of new talents.

At the moment I do have an ATF. However I only see her maybe for half the time. The other half I use to audition which also serves to add variety.

I look at my rotation like a pitching rotation. Generally my ATF is my ace #1. In the past I've had up to 3 ATFs at one time so they were like #1 ace, #2 starter and #3 starter (LOL)

reciprocity when it comes to ATF's.  In other words, you like them AND they like you.  In your case, I wouldn't spend too much time thinking about it.

Then they seem to say things that make me not want to see them any longer, like they are looking for sympathy from me. Which makes me wonder why they are seeing me to start with?

If you don't want me to visit, and you are only doing so because, well somebody else needs the money. Tell me, I'll do us both a favor and stop calling

My ATF is pretty much the only woman I've seen more than once, that is still active. We're looking for a third, so next time she's in the DC area, we can have a threesome. Anyone interested?
