I would have to say yes.
All these beautiful sites online, the happy and very beautiful women that show up at your doorstep.
Definitely.
If it was so bad, you'd get yesterday's garbage.

I asked this question in the post about the Heidi Fleiss story but nobody made a comment probably because the movie was so bad. A review of the movie said that it tended to glamorize prostitution. Has the internet also done this? With all the access to escorts on the internet with slick websites and escort malls, has this had a glamorizing effect on the business? Are more young girls entering this line of work because of this?

The glamorization is one's own interpretation. The internet was just the means of 'putting it out there'.

And yes, more and more ladies are getting into it for many reasons - all of which we talk about on the boards all the time.
Economy, fed up with the working world, relationship disappointments, pay off debt, supplement your reduced income because of layoffs, etc.

(OK..this site did something really weird...)

I somewhat agree but prior to the internet there were just the classifieds in seedy tabloid papers. The internet provides a more refined way of "putting it out there." I think most women like you describe would have reluctance to get into the biz if they had to do it via the classified approach but find the internet gives them a more comfortable way to put out the red light. I think this is even more true of the FBSM world than the escort scene.

was the older woman sitting across from her in the deli saying to the waitress, "I'll have whatever she's having." The older woman was in fact played by Rob Reiner's (director) mother.

I would show you a picture of the hotties I am watching, but I would get promptly kicked out of the bar and off the boards if I tool a picture and posted it.

Can you say----
P-O-R-N kareoke?

The Older cuter Meg Ryan or the New one with the big fake lips?

I don't think that the internet has had a glamorizing effect on the business. IMO It has brought it much more out in the open, more than anything. Before the internet you couldn't look at pictures or read reviews. You just had to keep your fingers crossed and wish for the best! LOL

Not every Lady has what it takes to be a provider, as you have to be a strong lady to stay in it. IMO

Ladies, what do you think?

Kelly~

i would say the internet makes it easier for both parties, you can look at her pictures, rates, information and reviews, choose between hundreds of providers and make your decision.

For providers, we don't have to walk down the street(lol) or ask people who won't be interested, we don't have to print cards and leave them everywhere, the internet saves us a lot of time that hobbyists look for us, we don't have to look for them.

Not sure about that, however there was a controversy recently in my local town because the strippers from the local strippers club of a well known national chain was at some highschool job fairs to pass along some information about the business for girl interested in making either a career of it or supplementing the income while going to college.  2 of the schools ended up having the ladies escorted out of the building, but it goes to show that the industry is trying to reach out and say hey, this can be a way to make a decent living and it's legal in certain counties.
The ladies weren't all dressed in stripper garb either, the club chose ladies who were either in the business for a while or ladies who were making a living while going to school and most were going for their masters.  They had really nice business suits on and presented themselves well, and basically were trying to give the message that this isn't just about girls down on their luck or needing money for drugs and such.

Before the internet and Heidi Fleiss, most women, myself included, had little knowledge of the escort business aside from seeing streetwalkers in the bad part of town.

For me, Heidi Fleiss was the first major figure that brought high end escorting to mainstream attention. Her association with the LA CEO's and Hollywood actors made escorting seem glamorous and exciting.

Without the internet, I wouldn't be here. I had many reservations, but as I looked at different web sites and did some internet research, I felt reassured that I could make a living and it could be fun too. :)

Thanks for your honest answer. So, how is the biz for you? I hope you are making the living you hoped for and that it is (mostly) fun.

It depends on various situations like most things in life.
Being a provider could be very glamorous, or it could be the opposite. It depends on the individual. For instance Top Models and Actress I heard were providers doing it very selectively with high end individuals many under assumed names, it this case it's very glamorous. But take the situation of the street walker this is not so glamorous. Someone like Heidi dealt with everyone on top, therefore she promoted the situation on a higher scale. The internet reaches out to many people, therefore madams like Heidi are not needed.

By glamorize, I don't mean in the sense of "promote," but why not dignify an honor it, now?  It is, yes, the oldest profession.  Our closest living evolutionary relatives, the Bonobo chimps, who are also one of the only other species to have "hidden estrous" like us, practice prostitution as their mating ritual. In other species, it's not at all unusual for a male to present the female with a gift prior to mating.

In all truth, desire to copulate is not necessarily friendly, nor generous, and, in itself, it's usually not an even exchange. To take my pleasure with you and infect you with my bodily fluids? What a deal! How can she resist?

It's monogamy that's a freak of nature, and strict practice of this by a species is one of the main factors leading to extinction, as it turns out.

The only reason for prostitution to be in such disrepute is Judeo-Christianity-Islam, and its crippling aversion to pleasure and promotion of nausea and jealousy as morality.
