if I had read less, I'd know more.

The most ironic line in there is the (rhetorical?) question:  Why do men pay for sex?

I'd have to agree with that famous coffee roaster/ philosopher, John Arbuckle Jr., who said:  You get what you pay for*.

*And yes, I would agree with you if you prefer to say that you get what you negotiate for, instead

Not to change the subject, but am I the only one who finds the motto:  "Read less, know more." somewhat unsettling

It is just more out in the open with the internet. Not that long ago single females stayed at home with their parents until married or they became someone mistress on the side.

Like watching "Girlfriend Experience"...has nothing in common with my experiences in the hobby.

Not surprising, though, given the state of the economy for the past decade.  And most of the Millennial's will vote for Hillary, and more of the same.  Sad.

What is going on now is not unlike what was going on in Germany before the Nazis took over.  Germany was forced to pay "reparations" for WWI, the economy tanked, and sex work went through the roof.  Until common wages and salaries become living wages and salaries, sex work is going to skyrocket.  So of course, you will get the unfortunate side effects of young women who wouldn't "normally" be doing this.  Our society and government need to come to grips with the fact that there are many factors besides "immorality" when it comes to sex work, drug dealing, etc.
