The House Democrats' bill includes $335 million for sexually transmitted disease education and prevention programs at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.
I would like to see White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs explain this one saying UM and AWE :)

The Senators and Congressmen are all infected with STDs!!

... though I grant you, it should never have been added in the first place. Stupid stupid move, and it gives lots of fuel to the GOP and their sockpuppets and parrotheads.
I suppose anything that might lead to the use of contraception would be anathema to the "Just Say No" crowd. But the Dem committee that decided to insert this dumb addition to the bill should have known better.

And now for my rant:
So where were all the conservatives and other GOP membership when Bushco was adding in things like $4 million for studying the effects of hurricanes on the Gulf Coast shrimping industry (i can do an even better study for the $3.99 it would cost to rent the movie Forrest Gump), or the icon of earmark arrogance, the Bridge to
Nowhere? And let's not even begin to discuss the annual allocation of $12 billion for a Howitzer-like supercannon that was obsolete, and completely unnecessary for today's war theatres, and which even the Pentagon didn't want or need. Ah but wait!!! The weapon was manufactured by a subsidiary of the Carlyle Group... a conglomeration of former government officials owned by among others... wait for it... George H W Bush.

OK thats enough of that. Where are the daily smears against Israel? I feel much more comfortable fighting against anti-Semites and other hatemongering vermin. At least in that arena I know who my enemies are.
Congress on the other hand, is so utterly fouled with corruption on both sides of the aisle the best thing we can hope for is they don't make things even worse in their shortsighted rush to instant gratification and a hefty payoff.

Rant over. BTW - Timbow, who do you like in the Superbowl?

for birth control.

This isn't a stimulus package. It's simply a democrat budget bill, 50% bigger than usual. Flip through the bill (see link). It's full of suspicious things.

BTW am I a sock puppet or a parrothead? LOL ;-)

We've met and talked in person... I do not consider you to be either sockpuppet or parrot... you can offer a cogent argument I just happen to disagree with more often than not.

I'll review the link for the stimulus bill... though I'm sure what with it being Washington DC, there will be more pork than you will find in a Cincinnati slaughterhouse.

They need to apply to rules of KOSHER to crafting these government bills. No pork. No additives.

DEM or GOP, that'll be the day :-X

I didn't hear about that one, but did hear about the $200M for family planning and birth control. Also read about $50M for the National Endowment of the Arts. Although these and other pet projects would have no impact on the economy, you can see our politicians still have their pet projects.

Actually I am not necessarily against infrastructure spending as it tends to generate $1.50 to the GDP per $1 of stimulus, but some of these infrastructure projects are in the 2012 - 2018 years. I would prefer more individual and corporate tax cuts, as well as interim capital gains reduction. But considering the Dems control everything, you can expect more projects like the ones mentioned above.

On a side note, I have not seen a reprint of the Putin speech at Davos, but heard he was concerned about the U.S. move to potential bank nationalization, as well as other government intervention methods. What is the world coming to when the former communist (in name only) berates the U.S. for its current socialist moves.

Saw George S., interview with Nancy Pelosi last weekend. Whe Stepho asked Nancy how birth control would stimulate the economy, her response was classic Pelosi...total stupidity. Stephanopolous could not believe what she said, and by the look on his face, he was dumbfounded. So, he asked again, and her reply was that the States are hurting financially as badly as anyone, and that the less population they had to provide for would reduce the costs of state programs, e.g., welfare, WIC, CHIP, Medicaid, workmans comp, you name it. Hell, if the population size is her concern, let's eliminate more to reduce costs. Raise speed limits to 90 mph, gun carry laws for everyone, eliminate all OSHA rules, seat belt/helmet laws, drivers licensing, and building codes, require trans-fats and MSG in all foods, no organ transplants after age 50, free government cigarettes, legal drinking age at 15, and on and on........

Finally someone understands that if we spend the money on the front end, we won't have to blow so much on medicaid and welfare.
