I'm not going south of my beloved border anytime soon. How can help from here? Please tell me how to contact this Chula Vista Church group.

This message is for the guys who see the providers south of the border.

Every year the girls down there get together and collect gifts to give to the children at the orphanage in Playas TJ.

I have participated in this for a couple of years now and find it to a be very rewarding experience.  Even if you do not get to give the gifts to the kids personally, the bond that you have with the provider who does will be enhanced that much more.

Between now and 12/15, instead of bringing a gift to your favorite provider south of the border (as many of the regulars do), bring her a wrapped gift for a child at the orphanage.

Tell her that it is for "los niños en el orfanato de playas tijuana".  She will know exactly what you are talking about but wonder who told you about this.  Just tell her it is from her friends at TER.

The gift should be for a child between the age of 4 and 12 such as tennis shoes, or clothing (unisex), or a soccer ball, etc.   If you want to donate more than just one present, you might want to give sundries such as bars of soap or shampoo.

You should write down a description of the contents onto the wrapping so they can match up the gift with the appropriate child.  She will ensure that the gifts reach the orphanage in time for Christmas.

We do not have orphanages here in the states anymore, but it was not all that long ago that we did.  This one is run by a church group out of Chula Vista and they can use all the help they can get.

Questions?

I had not even thought about the fact that people other than the ones who go to TJ might want to contribute.........

I will see I can get the name of the church group for a direct donation on this side of the border.

I first learned about this donation idea from the providers that work at Adelitas and for personal reasons, I identified with this simple act of kindness.

When I do outcall to hotels I always ask if I can have the mini shampoos and other sundries that come with the room. Hardly any of the clients I have seen actually use them and when I get a whole bunch together I donate them to the battered womens home where the women often show up with children and nothing else. This Idea got some press a while ago and now there are alot of people and groups contributing these items here. I think that if we providers who do hotel outcall and you hobbyist that travel could get enough stuff to supply that orphanage these items year round....

provider does not work at either. However, I will use any excuse to visit AB, CC,.. etc.  Thanks for the info.

this is a great post - actually it's one of the best i've read on this board - i hope everyone with the ability will contibute.
