Children go out in costumes and say "trick or treat" and are given candy. Adults dress up for costume parties or just for entertainment.

I think it's supposed to be a slasher movie type thing. I saw a costume like that called "Alice in horrorland". it's not a battered woman type thing or anything like that...I think she looks cute!
