TER General Board

I too am a vet and I disagree that all vets are "heroes"

Myself for example, I served in the 70's, comfortably after Vietnam and well before Iraq was even close to being a hotspot. I never felt like I deserved anything more than a modicum of respect for my service as I never risked life and limb, much less gave my life or limbs for my country.

There are other veterans, two of my uncles for example who both served in WW II and others such as yourself who made huge sacrifices for our country. You are the ones who deserve our thanks and I hope you find a lovely young lady tomorrow. Ooh rah brother, from a 12 Bravo who never had to find himself in harms way but appreciates and respects those who did.

To all on this board.  If you have served or are serving our country, or have friends or family that have served and sacrificed -  THANK YOU for your spirit, your courage, and dedication.  🇺🇸

As I posted on the 60 and Over board, your sentiment is appreciated.  It would have been refreshing for us to hear that in the late 60's and early 70's.

Past, present and families who await the home coming of loved ones overseas. Being an Army mom myself is hard. My oldest son is training for one of the hardest jobs in the Army. Knowing that he will be deployed shortly after completion sucks. Doesn't seem to phase him one bit. I salute each and every one of you brave men and women who stepped up to the plate to protect us from harm. In my opinion you are the heroes of this world. ❤

And thank you for reaching out to recognize those who have served.

It is very important for us to remember that freedom isn't free.

A very poignant saying "all gave some, some gave all" best describes service to country.

I didn't serve during a war or conflict, and so I have an appreciation for those who do or have. I go out of my way to thank those in uniform, and it pains me that doing so seems to surprise a large number of those whom I do thank.

Whether or not someone agrees or disagrees with current or past military policy, the men and women who serve our country should know that their service is appreciated.

serve in the 101st Airborne Division?

I was an Army Medic serving at a state-side military hospital during Vietnam.   Those patients were heroes. Anyone who has seen the strength and courage it takes to keep on going after the horrific injuies war can inflict would feel the same.

And to my cousin, who didn't make it home, I remember you always as a brother

I want to thank everyone who respect us veterans who served to protect our country. I was so nervous getting into this hobby because on my 4th TOD to Iraq in 2006, I lost my left arm and my right arm is in a permanent brace, among a few smaller disabilities. I was worried these providers would not want to see me but I've found nothing but support, thank you's and great service. So today, I spent the day remembering and honoring all the brothers I miss in my unit, but connected with the ones still alive. Great day for hobbying but I felt I wouldn't be there mentally 100% so I'll start again tomorrow. Thanks again everyone and God Bless you. Ooh Rah, locomoco41
