I am trying to get to North Carolina and since I retired for a bit I am curious on what are good areas to stay in Raleigh and what areas to stay away from.  I was also thinking of stopping in other cities but I know that Charlotte used to be pretty bad and not sure if things have changed.  Any help is appreciated and please PM responses.

Thank you ladies and gents!

Just look at a map and make sure the place has easy access to the highway/beltway for the convenience of your clients. If you want more amenities for you, then Crabtree/North Hills is good.

Crabtree, North Hills , and RDU/RTP are great Places. There are numerous hotels in those areas and they are semi-discreetly if not fully discreetly located. Some of them are right at main traffic areas , but there are a few that are a little off the beaten path. For instance, the homewoods suites behind crabtree is a good location. Great in regards for discretion, plus it's in walking distance to the mall.  Several hotels in the RTP/RDU are well spread out too. Plus they aren't too close nor too far from the heavy traffic spots. I as a hobbyist like those areas for that purpose, mainly discretion. Capital Blvd is sketchy as hell. Avoid at all costs.
