END OF MESSAGE

The reason I ask this is that most people have the virus already.  So I assume that there really isn't much harm in having more sex.

I've seen others who have a visible outbreak.  It's never bothered me.

Also herpes can be communicable a day before an outbreak is evident.

If she has visible herpes outbreak at the same time you guys should be fine.

These days are not always during outbreaks.  The person is infectious a few days before an outbreak (sometimes the person can feel an outbreak coming during this period) and during the outbreak itself as well.
It is hard to generalize, generally as the infection matures over the years, the number of outbreak days become fewer.
Condom use can help prevent transmission, but there are uncovered areas that can shed virus and be infectious and that are not covered by condoms.
To answer your question, I would not want to have sexual contact with someone during an actual outbreak unless I all ready had the same type of herpes infection that she did.

I guess that over the years I may not have known if a partner got infected from me, assuming I just saw them once or twice.

I just hate when I get that nasty lip sore.

Genital herpes is also herpes simplex.

You have herpes simplex, a different story.

It can be but that is most often herpes simplex 2 and he has HS 1.  See my response below.

There are two forms or herpes simplex, imaginatively named 1 and 2.  You have type 1.  It is contagious usually by mouth most often by contact with the virus and very contagious during outbreaks.  It an also be transmitted by saliva.  It can also transmitted mouth to genitals say during DATY again most contagious during outbreaks.
In short, I would not want to visit a provider who had an active outbreak on her lips or mouth.

I think I read somewhere that if HSV1 is transferred to the genitals the infection is not as severe as HSV2. Is that correct

Sorry, I know you're not asking me, but until Joe gets back...

The article Robbin posted specifically addressed this and several other infection / transmission scenarios.  Short answer, according to the article: you are correct. HSV 1 "prefers" the oral area while HSV 2 "prefers" the genital area. Either infection residing away from it's area of preference USUALLY has far fewer recurrences and is generally thought to be transmitted much less often.

Read the article and talk to Joe and your own doctor though, cause I ain't one😀

What state do you live in so I make sure to put you on my do not see list?

But I have homes and offices in:

Anaheim, California
Paris, France
Tokyo, Japan
Hong Kong, China

Why would you put me on a DNS list?  I'm sure you also have the virus.  Most people do.  Do a search and you'll see that to be true.

As for the virus, correct. Depends which website you read and how statistics are gathered, but it's believed that up to 90% of the population has HSV1, and about 50% have HSV2.
Still I wouldn't have a "date" during an outbreak.

Infection with herpes simplex virus types 1 and 2 (HSV1 and HSV2) is lifelong and can have serious consequences. Now, the CDC has reported the most recent data for nationwide prevalence of HSV1 and HSV2 (obtained in the 2005-2010 cycle of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey). Overall, 54% of persons aged 14 to 49 had HSV1 infection, and 16% had HSV2 infection. Prevalence of HSV1 infection declined steadily from 60% when first measured between 1979 and 1980. The most pronounced decline was among 14- to 19-year-olds, in whom prevalence fell from 39% to 30%  between 1999–2004 and 2005–2010.

HSV2 prevalence has also dropped (from 21% between 1988 and 1994 to 16% between 2007 and 2010). However, racial disparities in HSV2 prevalence have widened, as this decline did not occur among blacks. Thus, rates of HSV2 infection were highest among black women (50%), followed by black men (32%), white women (15%), and white men (7%). These differences existed at every level of sexual activity, and thus do not reflect individual behaviors. In all, 87% of HSV2 seropositive persons did not know they had genital herpes.

Seriously...NO intimacy with a Herpes 1 or 2 outbreak or any type of skin lesion, during a rendezvous with me!!

You must have appreciated that.

I guess you don't like cartoons?  How many times have you watched Mary Poppins?  Or are you more of a Little Mermaid fan?

And it's quite obvious what kind of fan Drew is.

He's a fan of whatever JLS tells him he is.

Just tell her it's jock itch or heat rash. I'm sure she'll believe you!!

To the provider and the "community" to knowingly have an incurable std and not disclose. There are special match like sites for people with herps.

I would be exceedingly upset if I were sexually active with anyone and they knew but didn't tell me there was a risk I might get an incurable virus. After divulged its up to me to weigh the risk.
