When I see the sheer number of providers online, has the numbers increased over the past couple of years? If so why? I know the internet marketing has a lot to do with it. But there has to be more to it. Easy to start up, low cost of entry, tax benefits Etc. Capitalism would bring the fees down, after a while and fairly quickly as the business cycle evolves. Thoughts

Yes , I believe that has a lot to do with it.
We had to go with the fast pass at our parks. Works for the whole family.
I also don't see many empty seats at sporting venues.
The recession ended a number of years ago. I guess not for you however.
As to why there are more escorts in your mind, there aren't. They come and go. It's been going on since man walked erect (pun intended).

there are more providers now. Talk to any girls who've been in the business for any length of time and they'll say the same thing. More girls, more touring and yes I think the Internet has something to do with this. It's easier to research where to work, where to stay, where to advertise, you can have a great website and book a hotel on booking.com and away you go.
It's talked about more, our knowledge of the industry has grown, attitudes are looser and more women are twigging to the fact that if you have a family or any desire for a life other than work, you can get into this industry easily and cheaply and make more on a good day meeting great guys than you can in a week in your 9-5 job and still drop the kid at school.
It's a flexible, well paid, fun job 
I think it's easier to "get your name out there" now and the cost of entry to this profession is low (as has been said - it's the economy). It's not like opening a retail store - very low overhead!
I do think the extra numbers are also due to short timers - girls that do this for a week or two and realize it wasn't what they thought or they made the money they wanted to (almost booked a girl a few weeks ago that was just doing this to get enough money for a Coachella ticket for example). So, it seems there's a bunch of "new talent" but the are here and gone!

1) they truly enjoy sex and the uncomplicated manner in which they get to participate at a high level of frequency and get paid for it.
2) their disillusionment at a "civvie" job and their bad experience with those they have had to work for.
3) the economy and using a provider profession as either their primary or supplementary means of income.
Yet, as someone who respects providers and almost always takes their side, am thinking there is one more reason some choose this profession, maybe a less than glamorous reason and of course one we do not speak about.
When a person has something in their past that can be uncovered from a background investigation, credit check, or reference search, it can limit a person's options and lead one to a less traditional employment choice. As mentioned, we of course do not talk about those here.
Hopefully, there are some creative providers, at least those who choose to do this long term, find a way to confide in good lawyers and set up an LLC or the like, so at least when they are old enough, can qualify for social security and Medicare.
Let's no forget all of the sugarbabies as well. Just about every one them are broke. High rents, shitty jobs and student loans put a lot of them in a desperate place.
Many say the recession never ended. Central bankers have resorted to 8 years of zero interest rate policy. Some even have negative rates. If things are so great why not bump interest rates?
For example, narcotics are now explicitly legal in various U.S. jurisdictions.
I think just in general, society is becoming more liberal, it's just more acceptable these days to engage in what the ol' Putotans would certainly have deemed "deviant sexual behavior."
If my theory is correct, we may begin to see decriminalizaton of SW's in more states too. We can only hope!!
For younger generations, marriage is not happening.
Free agency plus the greater financial risks of being single will increase the range of acceptable careers.
I would guess (no evidence) that most providers are not married.
There has always been so many providers available that it would make your head spin. Has there been an increase? Maybe, but I wouldn't notice at this point...I am happy with my circle, and rarely even consider moving outside of it. I did only once this year, and I would see her again next time we are in the same vicinity in a heartbeat. Or NY minute.
