I've known the lady in question for over eight years, enjoyed adventures with her in NY, NJ, PA, DC, FL, Vegas...ATF in every sense of the term.   She is in my inner circle of friends, trust level is 100%. never a gambit with her...

Over the past few years, there's an increasing trend whereby hotels require keys to operate the elevators.  I'm curious, has anyone found that to be hindering the hobby? Either as a patron or a provider?

Personally, I tend to skip the urge to pick up the phone to make a request, when I know the provider may have trouble getting to me.  And how do traveling providers make sure they end up in hotels that don't require elevator keys?

Just overall, very curious about this trend and how others have dealt with it.  Thanks.

If it's an outcall and they are coming to you. And you are the one in the hotel that requires an elevator key, just meet them downstairs, or in the parking lot, or in the hotel bar, etc.

When the ladies do incall, many of them try to book a place that does not require an elevator key. As more and more hotels require them, it is getting tougher to do, but if they have a room that requires an elevator key they will tell you what to do.

Sometimes they will tell you to meet them in the lobby. This is not always discrete so sometimes there is another meeting spot option. Some key type elevators may block the room floors but may allow you to go to the second or third floor, to a mezzanine, or a pool deck, something like that and the provider may tell you to meet her there instead of the lobby. Sometimes the parking elevator may have a floor other than the lobby where you can get out and switch to the room elevators. She may meet you on that floor. I have also heard of ladies hiding a key in a potted plant or piece of furniture, and telling you to grab that key. I have never run into that one myself, but have done all the others.

I have met many providers at incalls that require elevator keys. The most common thing I have done, is just walk right into the elevator with another guest or group of guests, usually fumbling in my wallet like I am trying to get my key out, and someone will always use their key first, and ask "what floor?"

I like those hotels when I'm traveling and doing outcalls to my place.

That way she can't come back later and try to have sex with me for free.

She tells me to wait in the elevator lobby and we describe each other and the clothing we are wearing.

When the elevator door opens and I see her, I just get on with her and then go up to her room.  There's really nothing to it.

Las Vegas, however, is more challenging as there are security people who ask to see room key cards just to get to the elevator lobby. In that case we have to meet at some location in the lobby, but things are so busy there it really doesn't matter

...the lady had to come and get me.  I was her first guest in that hotel and she didn't know that Marriotts have some locked floors and some that are not.  Anyway, she came and got me at the fire exit and we had a great time.  A funny part of the story is that she had the wicked sense of humor to show me what she had on before she had to get dressed in street clothes to come rescue me...it was definitely my loss and the way she teased me made us both laugh out loud.

floor (a floor several below your blocked floor). When you descend to the 4th floor, she gets in the elevator (description given so she gets in the elevator with the correct gentleman) and you go up to your concierge level room.

I would rather figure out the elevator than walk through a motel 6.

A couple of months ago, I met with a lady for the first time at a NYC hotel which had restricted access with elevators.  No problem, I called her and she came down and met in the lobby.  No one suspected anything.  This happened again at a hotel in NJ a few weeks later...she (not the same lady)  simply called the hotel desk, and they gave me a key.  Last time, a couple of weeks ago, with yet another ATF, we met for drinks at a nearby pub.   I've also dealt with this issue when I've hosted in hotels in Vegas...I simply come downstairs and met them either in the lobby, or the hotel bar.

I generally consider this to be a minor inconvenience, not a killjoy.  You should generally ask her during the two step process if this is an issue, at the same time you ask her for directions to the elevators once you've entered the hotel to see her.  Experienced ladies will know to give you this info to avoid hassles

Assuming she is going to be several different men going to the desk and asking for a key?

Dunno about that gambit

An elevator key is typically only necessary for the top floors (hotel program elite members and those who pay the extra amount). I actually prefer the elevator card required floors, unattended kids can't ride the elevators up and down to those floors making unnecessary noise. It's a damn shame that parents don't have control over their children and keep them from doing this and expecting the hotel staff to babysit their kids and the rest of us to have to listen to their screaming and yelling.

But I digress. If you are in a room that is on a floor which requires key card to access, simply meet her on a lower floor by the elevators, like 3 or 4 and not the lobby. The hotels are always nice enough to have chairs nearby the elevators so if either of you has to wait for the other they can do so comfortably. Then, you can both ride the elevator to your floor together. This also makes it easier to pick her out, as many ladies now have blurred face photos, and typically there aren't a lot of people hanging out by the elevator doors.
