Golf - gives a nice long window to disappear.
In winter use cross country skiing- wife hates the cold so can always go solo

Like some others golf is my excuse on the weekends. So pick up golf if you are not already a golfer. During sports playoff, if my cable don't get the game I want to see, my SO lets me go to a local sports bar to watch the game.

Occasionally after work company happy hours on the weekdays

Believe you if you said you were going out to see a hooker?

The truth can be a funny thing at times, it can be so outrageous or thought to be so that no one (or your wife/SO) will  believe it.

In my own city, I usually do nooners. So none needed for those.  If I do a late afternoon or early evening session, I usually tell her I'm going to a professional event. On weekends, I use golf.  I also use golf as a reason to extend a few days after family vacations.

I have a vast array of special interests other than the action one finds here. When pursuing any one of those other interests, there's usually time to find an extra hour or two to meet an exciting lady. In fact, it's always nice to have one or more of those other interests planned in case a lady no shows, or suddenly becomes unavailable. And you actually have to do the other hobby. You can't just say you're going to a concert. There actually has to be a concert. I always bring home a program, ticket stub, a picture, or some other souvenir. The thing about excuses and alibis is that they have to be well planned. You must be extremely cautious not to cause any suspicion whatsoever. It's my opinion that you shouldn't ever invent an on the spot excuse because you're horny. Oh honey, I decided to go to the bookstore, and hang for two hours. You're dead meat after that because her antennae are now up.  

A few years ago, when I found out my event had been last minute cancelled, the timing for my scheduled atf session was screwed up. Sadly, when something like that happens there's no other choice but to go home. In this particular instance, I did have time to swing by her incall, pop in, explain why I had to leave right away, give her a kiss, and leave the full donation on the mantle. That's just the way it worked out, but it was extremely important not to make either lady mad at me.

If they become suspicious you are likely dead meat.  I don't think there is a foolproof way of not getting caught.  Infrequency makes it difficult to secretly track you.  Changes in behavior are going to set off some alarms regardless.  If you suddenly take up an interest in bowling, or something.  You have to incorporated it in your existing flow -- nooners, long established activities (golf, ect.)  But everything leaves a trail of some sort.  Not to mention those ill timed STD's.

And stopped seeing her and started getting my therapy from my ATF. I would just say, I'm on my way to therapy. My therapist's office did not have my permission to share with my SO.  

Now that I'm happily single, if the day ends in Y,  is the perfect excuse

I was in charge of supervising field operations so I could always check out of the office to visit field sites and spend an hour or two with a favorite.

When I did have to see someone after hours I could always plead an evening meeting.

If you do have come up with an excuse, try:

I'm going shopping for your birthday (anniversary) (Christmas) (St. Swithan's Day) gift.

so I just scheduled it for when I was off and the ex was working...

I am in a relationship....so every Saturday morning I do errands such as grocery shopping, etc.  Have been doing this for months as my girlfriend does not desire to do errands early on Saturday.  So I am out about three hours and schedule to see a provider during that timeframe.  The bad thing it is early on Saturday so I have to schedule in advance as providers are not in abundance.  So in essence develop a routine and stick with it for legitimacy then you can plan accordingly.  Best of luck.

If your SO has a weekly/monthly card game, girls night out, art event, flower arranging class, wine tasting, whatever... I normally find out a week or so in advance.  At that point I normally think of a good reason to depart work an hour or 2 early (if necessary), and then spend 2 or 3 hours with a local friend. This also tends to avoid calls... as she is busy doing something else.  Oddly, more often than not she arrives home slightly tipsy and sometimes feeling guilty... and it has evolved into a rather good evening in bed.
