The Utah legislature has passed a resolution labeling pornography a public health problem. This will finally focus our attention on real health problem unlike those mere distraction like obesity, smoking, the huge number of people who are pre diabetic, heart disease and stroke, the malnutrition of so many of the children being raised in poverty and fed on things like Big Macs and fries. And how about all the time being wasted on worrying about breast cancer, STDs, prostate cancer, poor pre natal care for so many.
Why I know public health experts focusing on traffic deaths, air pollution, gun violence, unsafe drinking water. I could go on and on.
This is personal for me because I am personally a victim of this public health threat since I view pornography FREQUENTLY. Finally, those healthy folks in Utah will try to help people like me. This may help prevent some of the other great health risks like masturbation (which, as everyone knows id probably the major cause of blindness in the World.)
I see a Nobel Peace Prize in their future .
It's no surprise that the group heading up this charge is a Mormon backed group called Fight the New Drug. Governor Gary Herbert gladly backed this "morals bill" because he believes porn to be a staggering epidemic. Some people have too much time, self-hate, and guilt that they don't have time to put things in perspective. Perhaps more energy should be focused on the pandemic of ignorance and intolerance.
They're smart enough to realize that money, ignorance, and fear mongering can be used to manipulate people most of the time, but too stupid to realize that curtailing/revoking some people's freedoms will eventually hurt all of us.
Of course you know what follows a public health threat declaration don't you? Lawsuits! Who wants to be the named plaintiff? For crying out loud, can't the politicians stick to the important stuff.

There is just so much of this absolute stupidity in our leaders.... What has happened to "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness" a well-known phrase in the United States Declaration of Independence? Those "unalienable rights" which the Declaration says has been given to all human beings by their Creator, and for which governments are created to protect? It seems these do gooders and control addicts seek to make us all drones in a society like in the 1993 Movie “Demolition man”
