for personal and hobby and you have accessed fb from that phone it will pull the contacts from your phone.Definitely should have two phones or a phone app to separate the two.Or if you use your hobby phone and log into your personal FB.
I think it does that as well if email contacts are saved.
That's why you see client's as someone you may know.
Too much to keep up with and I am too worried about the two crossing that is why I haven't joined twitter/social media for this business.

Why are clients popping up in my "people you may know list" on my facebook? All I have is my friends I went to school with and family. So how is this possible? Can they see me?Thank goodness I don't put my real name on facebook but still?

Social media love to make connections between everything in your contacts, searches, emails, phone numbers, everything.

And it's the same thing with snap chat...I have their names saved in my phone.and their snap chat name pops up

I'm pretty sure if someone has searched for you on Facebook, they will show up on the "people you may know" list

I've used that subject line so many times, I decided to add a (C) to secure copyright protection. :-)

Search the boards for "nefarious, plague, insidious, pernicious, multi-tentacled" [Any of these words] for my opinions on the matter of Facebook, Google+, Twitter, etc.

Those threads often have examples of the unexpected and undesired cross over of this world and the real world.  And now this one, too.

The goal of social media is to connect everyone, WHETHER THEY WANT TO BE CONNECTED OR NOT. Although our hobby and real life personae are intimately connected within us, social media will take the LONG way around to eventually link Hobby-self to RealLife-self passing and connecting to as many people as possible along the way.

Don't be naive about Personal Settings or Privacy Settings within one or another app. The whole network interacts in much more complex ways, picking up cookie trails and other leavings.

Mouthwash doesn't help, Brillo doesn't help.  Mr. Clean Magic Eraser doesn't help.  You need to AVOID the stain of FB, Twitter and the others completely.

Avoid Social Media.

and congratulate each other on family events

And yes we met on here.

 OR Date check

I still wonder what is wrong with that?

It is amazing have those very special friends to know and share:) and stay in touch.

Very good addition and adrenalin to game of love or illusion of such.

I prefer to think that my life is not an illusion and my clients are very very very real and powerful nice men:) who proving me  that I am right about people that generally people are here nice and kind and jus want some actions. What for we are hiding then from each other?
I can t get it.
I would not say anything what would make him uncomfortable
and would never  reveal secret of our special relationship
I think it is in his interests as well
we may maintain simple human relationship on face book or linked or twitter and those should not have adult content.

As I have more then 300 connections on linked in and those are not my lovers all :)

No adult content of course and  we stick  to business language.
By the way my few month in Swiss this summer was result of my linked connection:)
We never speak or have anything alluring on social media sites-
Just behind close doors totally other story. :)
Other places we are just  friends or coworkers and we even may not have any conversations - i see few special friends seating on my Facebook - there never talk to me I never bother them
Jus sometime see what is happening and he may see what is happening with me. Short hellos there and emails to

And deleted the Facebook app from it too... Facebook will make connections with everything...

On this on po board.

I never use my FB , maybe twice a year to send birthday wishes to families in another country.

I just did that a couple days ago. Then a woman pops up under "people you may know" .
We have no common friends like most of the people who do pop up in the list. However she looked so familiar but didn't know why. Go to store in town over, and whala it is the damn clerk that works there!!! Really??? So they have to be grabbing it from the phones being in same vicinity / room. I never spoke with her beyond cashing out. It's out of control. Try searching the web for anything ie google car insurance quotes for an example. Then pay attention and you will start seeing commercials on your tv for insurance!

In the past month I've received three invites from Providers to join their network.  Fortunately this goes to my Hobby E-Mail but I'm wondering if these are actual invitations or some Phishing scheme.

and not guys I have seen before asking about joining their network.I am not even on Linkedin I just thought it was spam

who is checking me - I always see who looked me up and if I like  what i see - I invite to connect - but from my linked in you would understand the purpose - then  i do  to have a purpose of adult date when I invite people - I like  just have interesting friends.

And yes I also have 2  accounts on linked. Both has nothing to do with  hobby.

I always wonder and why people have a need to have social media set up as a hobby?
When you may just connect to someone and then talk about private things or over emails or over the phones or over the bottle of champagne
So how do you know it was providers?

thing that they must have clicked on- as with most social media, they ask if you want to see who among your contacts are on whatever SM you're using: FB, Linked-in, etc., and when you click, yes, it gives them permission to access your contacts. And there it begins. Linked in will email all your contacts month after month for like, forever. FB will just keep popping their FB page into your feed, as "Do you know this person?" or "People you may know".

Never click yes on these things!!

I was just talking about this very thing the other day! I know someone who is very good friends with someone at Facebook - and its now *GPS* that is used to find people that you may know.

My friend tried it and it proved correct: She went to an event. The next day, a lady that was at the conference too (zero mutual friends, they hadn't exchanged info) popped up.

If you have been on FB while in the vicinity of your client (maybe killing a few minutes in the lobby before you meet, etc) its possible. Always be sure your location services are shut off to prevent this from happening.

Traffic maps on google rely on people leaving their GPS cellphones on while they drive.  The cellphone is constantly sending speed and location information which google-maps uses to determine traffic congestion.  So yes, many people are unknowingly being tracked.

Did you know that when you take a photo, the pixels in the photo are encoded with your GPS location?

I'm beginning to despair of ever being able to be really independent of this cyber spying

I DO believe you, but this is an honest question - you can turn off the photo location in your settings, no? Or is this different? xx

with a separate email from my general one & separate from hobby.  And I clear myhist9ory very often so google can't link my shopping with other interests.  Social Media is very dangerous!
