I doubt they will repeat as NBA champs, maybe they might have an outside shot with the college circuit.

BTW, I am a huge Spurs fan :-(.

It's that time of year again for one of the greatest events in all of sports. No I'm not talking the Olympic Games here as great as the Olympics are. This is college hoops at its best.

There's been some rather serious threads lately so to lighten the mood a little how about giving your predictions for the teams to make it to the Final Four this year and your choice of the team to cut down the nets and take home the National Championship.

I'll put the ball in your court with my four picks.

Kentucky

Oklahoma State

Duke

UConn

Kentucky vs UConn in the Final with UConn taking the title.

I'm a huge Kentucky fan so it was difficult not to go with my emotional favorite.

There's so much parity in this year's tournament. I'm sure there will be several upsets. This tournament is always rather unpredictable and that's part of the beauty and excitement of it.

Ok all you college basketball fans take a shot.

And I'm a Florida fan, so it's killing me.  Now's the time ... who's your pick?

Maryland Terps on a Roll - Roll, Terps, Roll

..not those Wildcats, NOT Arizona. Kentucky should win the tournament as most of the "experts" predict. I would be ecstatic if Kentucky won but I'm taking a bit of a chance in predicting the unpredictable and picking UConn to win it all.

I hope enjoyinglife2 is right because if he is I will definitely be enjoying life.

Kentucky, Oklahoma State, Mississippi State, & Stanford...Stanford beating Kentucky in the National Championship....

And in my bracket I have Duke losing to Arizona in the second round......I can't stand the Blue Devils...

This wasn't even the Final Four. I believe it was the elite eight.

Christian Laettner takes a long inbounds pass with A Kentucky defender on either side of him, turns and shoots from the top of the key. Nothing but net at the buzzer and Duke wins. At least I think it was at the buzzer, I've tried to block it out unsuccessfully. It was like a STAKE through my heart. If anyone should despise Duke it should be me but I guess I have too much respect for Mike Krzyzewski.

Coach "K"  is a master of the offensive attack fast break style of basketball and always has a well disciplined well prepared team on the court, the loss to Maryland in the ACC tournament notwithstanding. One of the best in the game. Of course there's Dean Smith, Adolph Rupp, and perhaps the best college basketball coach of all time the legendary John Wooden at UCLA.

UCLA is the team that I despise. Great as John Wooden was as coach and mentor can you imagine what it was like back in the mid 60's to mid 70's as a Kentucky fan to watch as UCLA won ten, yes ten National Championships and an astounding 7 in a row? If you are from true basketball country which is generally east of the Mississippi and more specific Kentucky, Indiana, North Carolina,
then you had to know it was sheer HELL to watch as the UCLA dynasty "owned" the NCAA tournament.

I doubt that the record set back then by UCLA will ever be seriously challenged, especially with the best college players often leaving early for the NBA

Gotta take care of my bros.

Bruins SUCK!   Just really well apparently.

...to take advantage of this discount inspired in part by this thread.
I sense that I am persona non grata with Netmichelle as I reach for my flak vest and helmet lol

It's just that in Kentucky college basketball, and high school for that matter, takes on the aura of religion and it's the only organized "religion" I adhere to.

I do have the greatest admiration for John Wooden as coach, mentor,
and inpiration to so many whose lives he touched. Perhaps the greatest basketball coach ever at the college level.

Okay all you Bruins go show Michelle you suck at other things besides basketball - ROFL

I will put on my ultramarine blue eyeshadow and my cadmium yellow satin teddy with matching fuzzy house slippers and then I shall set an appt. for getting waxed in the shape of a nicely coiffed "B" topiary on my pussy.

The upsets are usually early and in the end you'll have 4 schools from among the top 3 or 4 seeded teams in each region. Too tough for lower seed to win 6 straight. Greater parity since best players leave after a year or two the most. Look for teams with most seniors and who are hot going in like Maryland. Kentucky is only one seed I see making it through. Stanford and Saint Joes lose early and Duke loses as soon as Reddick stops hitting from outside, which has happened alot lately. This leaves teams like UConn, if Okafor is healthy, and Georgia Tech (my long shot).
