I have heard about FetLife for a while but have never taken the time to do anything with it. Have any providers found it to be a useful tool?

No - I'm a Domme

Hard to find subs.  RU1?

and there is no allusion to you being a dominant lady on either.  If you're offering BDSM services, I'd make mention that you're fetish/bdsm-friendly, and update your TER profile to state what level of bdsm services you offer.

Just a suggestion; if you're trying to reach an audience more interested in kinky adventures, mentioning those things would definitely be helpful. :)

Fetlife is essentially Facebook for kinky people.  If you want to spend a ton of time on domme boards that don't yield many results, then go for it. But overall, not so great.

Especially for the use-case you seem to be referring to, Erin.

The. BDSM world is filled with men who want to sub, and very few domme women, by comparison.  A man who wants to explore his sub side, or find a domme life-partner is going to find himself competing for scarce resources.  I think that's part of the reason why pro-dommes are so in-demand; and why there's such a large amount of insta-dommes now, especially in the brave new world of webcam/"online domination"/"financial domination".

Same stuff happens for those who brave the local "munch" or other community event--generally many more submissive men than domme women, IME.

FetLife may not be a great resource, but I don't know that there is a particularly good one.  It's always tough finding someone with whom you're compatible--even tougher still if you're looking for kink compatibility also.

I've met lots of friends on fetlife, and for that I'm grateful. In Chicago however, the dynamic is very different.  The kink scene here is pretty heteronormative on the surface, and there are far more male dominant/female submissive couples than vice-versa (this is concerning lifestyle kink, not p4p kink).

I've been kinky-identified for over 10 years, and fetlife was instrumental in my education on how to do things safely and sanely. I found lots of educational classes and resources via the website, and I've had the pleasure of meeting lots of educators and taking lots of classes that have honed my skills. Personally, that's what fetlife is great for; personal growth and expansion of kink-based knowledge.

Fetlife is not a venue, in my opinion, for offering professional services.  People aren't there looking for professional services, they're there looking for realtime lifestyle playmates and partners.

Depending on your locale, backpage is often one of the best places to advertise pro domme services, but you have to be aware of your audience when you're offering pro domme services; clients of professional dominas are far different than clients of escorts/providers.  Having started as a pro domme and currently being a provider who specializes in kink, the difference definitely of note. There are also lots of national/international advertising websites for pro dommes. They're honestly not too difficult to find via a google search.

The issue with pro dommes being in-demand and "insta dommes" looking to cash in is the clientele difference i mentioned above.  It's also why providers like me sometimes get a bad rap, especially from men seeking a traditional bdsm experience. Lucky for me, I've got reviews documenting both types of sessions

I've found it to be fun to browse around and read through posts in different groups. It's helpful for finding kink related resources and information. But not for clients and providers to find each other. I've heard it's more helpful for PSOs and cam workers in that regard.

I have made a few good connections, however it is not an optimal place for exposure

I'm a sub, so it really doesn't do much for my business, but there are a lot of Dommes on the site and it has a world-wide audience.

Thanks for this! See, I'm glad I asked because so many responses and so much info has been thrown at me. :-D

I have found a few tributes on there.. I offer dom and it didnt work too well but maybe i need to update since its been a while.. But for me, it was not great advertising.. just my 2 cents..i have two websites for DOM and other and i too am looking for good ad BDSM sites.

Not on there for business, but personal. It must be difficult to make these kinds of connections outside of PFP unless you go to group scenes, not my thing. There's plenty of info for novices, but otherwise, no.

I've made lots of connections through FetLife.  Definitely a good place to be involved with.

I must agree as I found so many different interests  from all over the world.I is the the fetish facebook lol

it depends on what you're looking for. I'm a ProDomme and alternative and fetish model. I haven't found a lot of clients for Domination Session but I've found tons of modeling with through networking, either from going to the munches/events listed or from the model groups. Also, it's free advertising if you offer clips and useful if you offer video sessions... you can reach a wider audience and let you following know when things are available.
