I have never been there but watched a segment, I think on 60 Minutes, about 6 weeks ago about how the World Cup has been built up as  a dream come true for Brazilian prostitutes , everything from "Pretty Woman" fantasies of being swept off to another country as the new exotic  girlfriend of a  rich foreign World cup tourist  to thousands of men and women posing as prostitutes when they have no real experience and they are really just looking to rob tourists. A simple google search will turn up dozens of recent news articles on the subject. I'd  hate to think about having to explain to the wife and kids how daddy got beat up and lost his wallet, his watch and his shoes trying to get a little action while the family was down at the pool.  

In general, prostitution is legal in Brazil, child-prostitution is rampant, worse than anywhere except Thailand, and STD's are much  higher incidence in Brazilian prostitutes than in most first world countries.

Im in Recife, though.  But, have you seen any seedy hotels called 'hotel night love'?
