The most snakebitten franchise in sports continues on that merry path. Blake Griffin, 1st round draft pick overall, will miss the season due to surgery on his kneecap. Wonder if Benoit Benjamin is available.

I agree both franchisees seem snake bitten. Two of the last 3 number 1 picks overall have missed their entire opening season due to injuries.

Oden has missed the entire 2 of his first 3 years literally.

Still think Griffin has much more upside than Oden who will probably be relegated to a role player position coming of the bench.

Smart move by the Clippers though to be safe rather than sorry. Clippers are not going to win a title this year to take a gamble, now after surgery he has 10 months to get healthy again. Difficult coming back from knee cap surgery but not impossible.

he was drafted by the Clippers in 1985 out of Creighton and played for the Clips for te first 5 years of his career.

If you notice in Arizona, the Cardinals are turning things around. Bidwell's son is much more involved in the team and the word around the NFL is that the Cardinals are actually investing more money in their team (i.e. player salary, work-out facilities, scouting, etc.) The results have been good over the past two years.

I think Sterling cares about the Paper Clips to some degree, but at the end of the day its all about profit margin. If the Clippers turn a profit but only win 30 games a year, so beit. They will never be the Lakers.

Remember him? Another big guy whose career was troubled by injury issues.

Hakeem Olajuwon followed No. 2 to Houston and Michael Jordan followed No. 3 to the Bulls. Only 8 consecutive championships between Olajuwon and Jordan.

A capital OUCH! for the Blazers franchise and their fans.
