The area is fine.. Lots of chain places to eat in that general area and easy access to the Interstate or into the downtown area depending on where your work will take you..

Best steak?  The usual if you want chain... Fleming's, Ruth Chris, etc..    A great "general" place with a fantastic steak in my opinion is The Village Tavern.  Great steak, reasonable price, and a good atmosphere.  There are plenty of other options from their menu if you aren't in a steak mood...

If you want local flare, but good.  Take a look at Table 16 in downtown Greensboro.  The menu changes monthly and will include some unusual items as well.  I've had wild boar there that was fantastic.  You can get a steak, etc too, they are online if you want to see the current menu.

Another local that is very good is Southern Lights or you could take a look at Green Valley Grill at the O'Henry Hotel.  Fantastic food and ambiance there..

If you want a micro brewery check out Natty Greene's down town.  Plenty of "bar" type options downtown if that's your preference.

Have fun and hope you enjoy your time here

I will be in town a few nights on business next month, and had a few questions for whomever -

They have me staying near Wendover Place - good area?

Is there a restaurant I shouldn't miss?  Where is the best steak in town?

Thanks

That is exactly the type of local info I was looking for. Thank you for taking the time and sharing your opinions. You should work for the Chamber of Commerce, my man. I will definitely be hitting up Village Tavern and Table 16.  If you ever find yourself in SC I will absolutely return the favor.  Anything else I shouldn't miss?  Barbecue?

Happy to help my friend and I hope you enjoy both.  I was at the Tavern earlier this week just enjoying some flavorful appetizers and a fine glass of bourbon!

Barbecue, of course... My bad..  When in Greensboro... Stamey's is the place on High Point road directly across from the Coliseum.  I'm not a huge fan of vinegar based barbecue, more of a Kansas City/midwest barbecue guy myself, so it isn't always the first on my mind.  Make sure the hush puppies are one of your sides.  President's have dined there when in town, so it's either good, or free for them, not sure which!!

I may look you up on the South Carolina info.  I know the Myrtle area well but have been thinking of going down to Charleston to hang out my shingle for a long weekend

I must admit that the best steak, by far, is Ruth'sChris. I order it back on the outside and pink on the inside... absolutely heaven...especially after a session with Kelly!!!

Looking for the best restaurant in Greensboro, Guilford County NC? Have the fine dining experience at Ruth's Chris Steak House located near O'Henry Hotel .

Thanks so much to all of you for the opinions and advice.  ftu398, let me know when you are headed to the Lowcountry and I will certainly provide any assistance possible.  It is a great area to go lose time in.

Ladies, thank you especially.  I am still dreading the work part of the trip, but the evenings seem like they could be quite enjoyable.
