TER General Board

Don't much care what you call me behind my back, however

It is best NOT to call me a whore during the session. What will come after that, will not be enjoyable....just saying.

I used to think of the terms prostitute and hooker as outright derogotory in nature and were an appropriate discription of the person the words referred to. In 2012 I began hobbying and my attitude changed immediately. Yes, I have been cheated, misled, lied to, etc. and worse, but, those were not the norm. I now refer to the women I see as providers, ladies or women. I still don't like the hooker and prostitute labels because I feel it is demeaning to the, mostly, very nice, sensitive, caring, intelligent, sensual and sexy ladies I visit. I realize this is contrary to the "polite" society I am part of. But, I digress. Ladies, how do you generally feel about the use of the terms hooker and prostitute? Do those words offend? Are you neutral? Or?

Maybe I shouldn't be, but it bothers me when I see those words posted on the boards by men who actively seek womwn out for the great service you provide. Thoughts?

You do realize that you can't be offended for another person? That's not only narcissistic, but to be the protector of hookers is also a misogynist view. We already have St. Nick as the patron saint of prostitutes.

Although your claims are too glib for my taste, it would be more trouble than it's worth to subject them to further analysis here.  But one thing is obvious:  They are not at all relevant to the OP.

More trouble than it's worth to give any supporting evidence is a cop out. Seriously?!

I use words like "prostitute" or "hooker" in the following situations: streetwalkers, local girls in poor countries who hustle male tourists to buy sex, and legal sex workers in places like Nevada or Amsterdam (in this case, only "prostitute" and not "hooker").  For TER-type ladies, which includes my reviews and my name ;), I refer to them as "escort" or "provider".

Hooker, prostitute, whore are derogatory to some of us;
For others it may be part of their fetish or low self esteem
To be "the man"

Either way, most ladies although offended could give a fuck less as long as they are treated correctly and paid.

I dont care for that either.

I love the rapport of sharing about each other's lives after getting to know the provider. I stay with the ones who listens to my problems and I give my wisdom (older and wiser) on their issues if the provider has any questions about life in general. I would never consider (the ladies I see regularly) hookers or prostitutes.

As you can see, I've used "provider" number of times in my reply and they do provide what I need physically. But the connection is equally important for me to repeat.

In Australia we are called Workers.

Here I tend to use Provider, as that's what most hobbyists say,
But I think I'm going to lean more toward Companion as  the gentlemen are also providing- they provide the cash, the dinners, outings et

You see PC is selective around here. I can't use racial or religious slurs but many can use sexist slurs...always have been able to. So I call utter bullshit on there is nothing in a name, because if that were true, I could say whatever the heck I wanted.

but you know damn well that I use racial and religious slurs all the time. I will allow that I rarely say the word nigger out loud around in deference to the large number of people that get so highly offended by the word, and although that sounds like a cop out even to me, it's just a battle not worth fighting. Ironically I can use the words Chink, Kike, gook, polack, Dago, and a thousand other slurs without getting much heat over it, but the "N" word does seem to be off limits here, just like it is in most circles. Equally ironic is the fact that I can use the word freely around most of my black friends, but of course not everyone here is my friend and even an asshole like me is capable of accepting that not all words are acceptable in all settings.

So as far as I am concerned with that one exception a word is pretty much just a word to me. I can't think of any word I have never uttered here because of fear of political correctness. I use the words hooker and provider almost interchangeably just like I use client, trick, hobbyist and whore monger. Of course I dislike the term hobbyist almost as much as I dislike the term courtesan

after all, if I am going to refer to the ladies here as hookers, it would be rather hypocritical of me to use some kind of PC term to describe myself, wouldn't it?

I don't like any terms of us in this world that are derogatory.  I like to think we are all on an adventure, so we are all "adventurers".  We get together for encounters, fun or trysts, I like to say.  Hobbyist is not offensive, just creepy sounding.
