Actually that may be an understatement. What started out as a typical day has basically gone to shit in a hurry. Typical enough start like any other day at work. Goes to show you how things can change in a second, one minute I'm standing on a ladder thawing out a walk in cooler fast forward a bit and I'm nervously awaiting the doctors to look at my x ray. I've took many a beating and banging through the years I've worked in the trades but nothing like this. They think my platella ( I think) is fractured in my knee. Not good definetly gonna be a game and life changer for me for the next bit it seems. Hobby aside this isn't the time of year to be laid up. Sorry for the venting but y'all know writing is how I cope with things.  Keeping my fingers crossed!!!!

Sorry to hear that. The knee is kinda crucial for mobility- & it WILL hurt.

I'm choosing to stay positive and this thing is not going to kick my ass !! I hope you do the same Buddy !! You are going to hear A LOT of BAD SHIT in the coming days from the Doc's. Just remember ........ IT COULD BE WORSE. A LOT WORSE. So, stay positive and kick some ass in rehab.

Good news and bad news depending on you're outlook. No damage to the actual joint itself which is a good thing looking at long term which is good since I've got about 32 more years untill retirement. Short term is shot to hell though. Kneecap is fractured he said it wasn't a bad one though. How the hell can a fracture not be a bad one? Long story short got me some crutches and a cast to keep it all in place and shit that goes damn near to my naughty bits. I guess it could be worse, doc says 6-8 weeks before I can ditch all this crap I'm thinking 4-6 as I'm a stubborn bastard as y'all already know. And I usually heal fast though I learned today I don't bounce off concrete like I used to.  I guess the big picture is ok but I had been on a bit of a hobby hiatus due to time constraints since Feb. looks like that will continue for a while. Freaking sucks I had some REALLY kick ass plans coming up now all that's shot to hell.  
Summer coming up and a banged up ac guy, luckily I've got a buddy who can cover the biz for me and will give me kickback on what I send him. Workmans comp is picking up the doctor tab so that's a blessing. Hopefully work will let me come back in a couple weeks and be a desk jockey and dispatch or something. Gonna go stir crazy here at home, no telling what kind of crap I'll post here during that, though I may not look much just remind me of the fun I'm missing out on that I had lined up. Guess I'll send out a couple I'm sorry and stuff emails when I sober up a bit, hurts like a mfer but pain pills freak me out, saw my grandad pretty much hooked on that shit so I'm gonna avoid them as long as I can and stick to Tenessees finest.  
Thanks to everyone for the well wishes and encouragement I really appreciate it a lot. And to the ladies I had plans with I'm sorry y'all know I'd much rather be riding you than these damn crutches. Y'all fellas out there treat the ladies right till my crippled ass gets back out there!!

I'm sure the doctor told you but just in case, bones heal faster and more completely than ligaments and tendons. Hopefully there is no soft tissue damage and you heal fast and well. Sorry for everyone's disappointment.

Broken knee cap, torn acl & mcl. Torn quad ligament & quad muscle.  

I said I was going to stay positive & I am ...... BUT, it can be challenging. I just have to look at it and say I'm still pretty damn lucky compared to others.

Get better soon. I tore a tendon in my right arm three years ago.still bothers me. Crushed the Bursa in left elbow 20 years ago, still bothers me. Fractures to both thumbs,, no program.

That's a classic funny stuff. Yeah in the grand scheme of things it could be a lot worse. Sure shot my short term fun plans to hell though. Hopefully I'll be back in action before the busy season gets here bad time of year for an ac guy to be out of commission.
