Quad, if you missed the sarcasm in that statement, I can only apologize.

Perhaps my humor is just a little too dry for these boards - people are ALWAYS taking me literally!  Sarcasm doesn't convey well over the Internet.

...aka xfean...

let me just clear up the record right now, lil Dexter, since I haven't had time to check this board since I posted that thread and it's now on page 2 - I want you to see this.  IF you had been reading my posts over the last several months, it would be pretty obvious to you that I am not a racist - I am an Obama supporter and always have been (well, after I learned that neo-Nazis were ALL ABOUT Ron Paul for some reason and did some research on the man himself), and I voted for him on November 4th.

The video I linked to - a video which I am linking to again, to refresh your memory - is a PARODY of all of the paranoiac, extremist, racist bullshit that's been spewing out of some folks' mouths regarding this man and his "plans" for America.  Okay?  It's meant to be HUMOROUS.

I understand there a lot of big bad evil conservatives here, but seriously, try to think critically about something before jumping all over it, enraged.

butterflydust,
"I understand there a lot of big bad evil conservatives here,"

I hope you also understand there are a lot  of little weazel big bad liberals, here also.

Perhaps my humor is just a little too dry for these boards - people are ALWAYS taking me literally!  Sarcasm doesn't convey well over the Internet.

I was kidding when I said big bad evil conservatives, lol, does anyone think I really feel that way? Sigh.

If I AM going to start picking out the evil ones though - I'M GUNNIN FOR YA, RIGHTWING.  No, seriously, you are actually one of the posters on this board that I admire most.

I was also kidding with sarcasm...I do realize, all the evil liberals are not little weazels ..some of them are big weazles..

Sarcasm and parodies miss their marks when aimed at an audience comprised of mostly idiots, though.  I wouldn't bother attempting to explain it if I were you.

Don't worry, I am sure Xfean is the only one who is so delusional, as to be unable to recognize satricical comedy when he sees it. Satire does require a bit higher brain function to comprehend than say, a seltzer bottle sprayed in the face, so you have to forgive him.

Its kind of sad really, he is an excellent example of the deep entrenchment that many in this country - liberal and conservative alike mind you - are stuck in. These folks are utterly convinced that their side can do no wrong, and the other side can do no right. The sad thing is, we will never get anything constructive done unless greater minds can accept the idea that maybe, just maybe the opposition actually has a few good ideas, and that maybe their own side isn't necessarily the authority on all that is good and right.

I know, I'm such an idealist to think that such a thing might ever be possible :)

I think the polarization of politics is ruining our ability to work constructively with one another.  Extremism does NOT work in such a diverse place as the USA.  Anyone who deludes themselves into thinking their party or candidate can do not wrong is doing a disservice to their nation, IMHO.  I'm already face-palming at some of the choices Obama has made for his staff (specifically picking the governor of Michigan, who has not single-handedly caused its downfall but has certainly helped) - but I see others on another board where I often debate continuing to defend even poor choices.  Same goes for "dittoheads" of the GOP, though - it's on both sides, as you said, and it never ceases to confuse me.

I am sincerely hoping that Obama keeps his word and DOES look to McCain for help and advice.  He had shown interest in working with McCain in the past, but when he realized Santorum was gonna be involved he hightailed it out of there - for which I admit, I can't blame him, but it surprises me given how he worked with Tom Coburn, who is about as conservative as it gets.

Who knows, with a buncha idealist hippies like us in the woodwork, maybe we CAN all work together someday..
