So what is the etiquette for the Holiday season in the hobby? Do you get something for your favorite client or provider?
I also try to avoid celebrating the holidays to the extent possible. I give a few presents to the immediate family and that's it.
I do get my ATF a gift for Christmas and her birthday. Maybe a massage, a gift card, Bluetooth speaker.
We also have a tradition around Christmas of going out to lunch or dinner, and quietly leaving a 50 dollar tip to our waiter or waitress. We leave before they pick it up.

Why don't you concentrate on doing what feels best to you rather than what other providers claim to do.
Clients worth having will respond favorably if you come across as sincere and give good service

Considering that you have been in the business for a short period of time, is there someone that is starting to emerge as a person that you look forward to seeing him? Would you also say that the nature and scope of your relationship is more like a friendship and it might at times go outside the boundaries of the typical client \provider relationship? Does he tend to keep in touch with you between appointments? Also would this person start to emerge as your ideal candidate of a client but is much closer to a friend in the truest since of the word? If this is the nature of your relationship, then what clues has he been giving you and how much did you want to spend on this person? Considering that you have just entered the business, I am glad that you have someone who you genuinely like. However still keep a certainly level of detachment but continue to be engaging with you favorite friend.
Your entire session could be like jeopardy in a question answer format. If she answers correctly you give her 300, if you answer correctly you get a bbbj. Go for it

If Ms.TER happens it does if it doesn't it doesn't nothing to do with it. A fun place to talk and see people love and insult eachother at the sametime. A great pass time actually.
I have the last two years (same lady). I tried to get something we discussed and keep it reasonable, about $100. I actually don't really celebrate Christmas, but enjoyed thinking and shopping for my favorite. Also would usually get several small boxes of Godiva (4 or 8 piece, just a token) and take to any new provider I would see around than. Favorite quit recently so nothing this year. And yes, I know this will put me in the mangina squad, but I also give to girl who cuts my hair and any other favorite service providers.

I LOVE giving gifts, and so all my favorite people in the world receive something from me during the holidays, regardless of how I met them.
I also freak out when receiving gifts. It could be a jar of applesauce (which would make me really happy because I love applesauce) with a bow tied around it and I would be thrilled.
So yes, this is very common, but generally, if I do give a gentleman a gift, it is a discreet one. Something he would commonly use (like a tie), or something that doesn't leave any evidence (like a bottle of wine).
