Jack Del Rio has taken himself out of the mix for the position. Now ESPN says that Steve Mariucci is getting serious consideration. He hasn't coached in college in 14 years, so this seems like a strange choice. It might be that because of the NCAA investigations, SC is having a hard time finding takers.

Pete Carroll might be on the run from an investigation but he will never have the job security that he enjoyed at USC. Also I can almost guarantee that he won't have nearly the success that he had as a collegiate coach. I have a funny feeling in four years he will be in the collegiate ranks again.
... it would be interesting to see what direction the Kelly led ND team is pointing. If they are sqaundering as they did with Weis, rumors of Pete Carroll as a gold domer would sure be an intriguing sceanrio to say the least.
