I'm fairly new to TER (started visiting last year) and I'm curious about TER in general, and what kind of business model it utilizes. If anyone here is in the know, I would be curious as to which of the following applies:
1) TER is not a business entity and only makes enough money through memberships and/or banner advertising to cover it's most basic costs: i.e. server space and moderate web development work from time to time.
2) TER is a business entity, deriving most of it's revenue through banners and/or third party ad placement.
3) TER is a business entity, deriving most of it's revenue from the PROVIDERS paying for memberships and/or placing ads on the Regional Ad boards.
4) TER is a business entity, deriving most of it's revenue from the CLIENTS and reviewers paying for monthly VIP memberships.
5) TER barely pays it's basic operating costs thanks to membership fees from : a) Providers b) Clients
6) TER is mostly some person's hobby who does this for his/her own amusement.

I can assure you that this is a profit making venture.
It's main asset is it's largest escort review database in the world.
I don't know what the current membership is, but I know at one time the number being bandied about was about a half a million paying members each paying on average over $20 month. I am sure a smart guy like you can do the math.
If you Google ter you will find a ton of surprising things about its start, business structure and more. Glad to see it has your wheels turning though!
Escorts do not have to pay for membership unless they really want to, and they do not pay for Ads.
Unfortunately, this also means they are treated with less respect than the people from whom they derive their revenue.
I had kept my profile up because I still lurk when bored, and wanted to keep the privilege of commenting. I'm no stranger to the concept of fake reviews, no big deal, but must say their customer service for providers is such a hit or miss. They can be dismissive and condescending.
Oh well, such is life.

A real bonus, most ladies never post ads or partake of the message boards but still reap the benefits of this site. This is a big difference from most escort sites on the web.
I would say number 4 and possibly 2 but i'm not sure how the pay per click banners work.
