"Some women" are offended by everything, including the words slut, whore, hooker, or even "girl"

Other women aren't offended by much of anything, including cunt, bitch, or any other so called offensive words.  We have a proud MHB contingent here along with a couple of ladies who often refer to themselves as being a bit "cunty"

As for "on the rag" there are at least as many men here who constantly seem to be on the rag here as women, so maybe you should direct your question to them?

Ladies, one of the respondents to the thread, "Days after Aunt Flo" (about four down) used the phrase, "on the rag".  I've always thought that women were offended by it so it's never been a phrase that I would use with a woman.  Am I wrong?    How do you feel about those words?
And once again, I'm looking for the female point of view

Why? Because this is a public board and you don't get to pick and choose who replies to your posts. If you want a ladies only response, ask on the PO board.

To answer your question, some are offended and some don't give a shit, and many use that phrase themselves. Why do people ask opinion questions expecting to get a single blanket response?

I think more women can get offended by how the term is used rather the actual term.  Nobody wants to be invalidated by being told they must be on the rag.  That term itself is old hat, though.  Its not shocking anyone.  Maybe in the seventies?

...and I tend to cringe when I hear the term. I wouldn't start using it just because a few of us say it's okay, though. And similarly I wouldn't continue not using the term if a few of us say we are offended. If you're not comfortable saying it, then don't. Simple as that. I think this is a use your best judgement situation and really depends on who you're speaking with.

....but I never took offense or cared one way or the other about the OTR expression.

In fact I say it alot to my male colleagues when they are particularly snippy and difficult to deal with ;)

...if I thought about it deeply, I'd probably realize that by saying it to men, I was actually demeaning women.  Good thing I'm not a deep thinker.

Thank you

Are rarely very pleasing. Think of the terms a vulva is called...snatch, bearded clam, gash, axe wound, fish taco ad infinitum. None of those sound at all appealing for something you men fight and beg and pay to get near, yet I am pretty darn sure it was the guys who coined those terms.

I am not fond of that term BUT, on here, if you mention what you are not fond of too loudly, well you know what happens. So the other option is to realize where you are and play accordingly. It saves so much bullshit in the grand scheme of things or at least it has for me.
