I've had friends that were alcohol addicts, sex addicts, drug addicts, power addicts. I understood that they could not indulge like I could without going overboard, and I wished them well in recovering. But they never told me that I was "immoral" just because I drank, fucked, toked, or liked to succeed. Although one alcoholic friend traded in his alcohol addiction for jesus addiction and he did start judging others for not being a born again asshole like him.

On phx I tried to put some logic and science in there. Who knows if it looks like jibber jabber, or actually makes sense. The demon stuff makes no sense to me, so I took a jab at something a bit more logical.

This is pretty much what I was thinking as well. He may or may not be an addict, but the more I read from him the more convinced I am that some clergyman got his hooks into this guy and has him believing he's an immoral devil-worshiper for touching himself or paying for a woman's company
My post sounds mean, but giving him a little "hey if you're going to do it, do it." With reasons why.
Quite honestly, it looks as though it's a roundabout way of saying "I'm stopping because I feel bad, so now you should feel bad."
Happens all the time when people go on diets, quit smoking, quit drinking, or make other lifestyle changes. All of a sudden people should quit the second they decide to. It's really a method of superiority. "I am doing this now. Why aren't you? Huh?"
I personally feel living it out for a length of time speaks louder than words.
But then when ppl start drinking the coffee again, it's totally fine that you do too. In fact, drink it with me! Lol.
Coffee is the biggest one I've seen lol.
Is it meant well? Maybe on the surface. I've done it. But is it effective? Probably not.

there is nothing worse than a 'born again" non-smoker, non drinker, non what ever.
I quit smoking because I got tired of being a second class citizen but I swore I'd never be a "born again" non smoker and rant and rave at smokers... 20 years later, I can say I was pretty successful.
I'll let you know how I fare as "born again" non drinker and non fucker... as soon as I decide to quit those disgusting habits

It is sort of like an alcoholic walking into a bar and announcing that he's seen the light. Maybe he has - and yes, this is exactly the sort of response you would expect. Was it a really good idea? - probably not. But nobody is perfect.
Some folks have issues with alcohol - some with sex. I am married to someone who does. And in her case, the 12 step program has worked.
Just be decent and back off for a bit. He has a problem, he's dealing with it. This looks like something that he's doing as part of it.
If there is someone reading this who also has a problem (and if your hobby interferes with your real life, you may have a problem) - 12 step programs like SA may or may not be the answer - but it is a start... and it is cheap.
As for me - I am planning on seeing a couple of hookers this weekend and having a drink or two.... Skoal! Prosit! Cheers and La Chaim! Life is good!
